Day 2.5-L2Cut.

Hello again folks. Today i got the money and sent out orders to all the places im buying from and bought a dremel, tomorow ill get the rest of the stuff from hardware stores and buy that true off of OCN. Now for some pics.

got the dremel

and some cutting blades

everything that came with it

and the dremel with the blade attachemnt

Ill prolly buy more tools for this thing later on but this mod is already costing me 400+ so im gona lay off on buying stuff for now that i dont really need.

test cut

Wowie this thing emits way more sparks than i imagined, to do all the cuts i did today i wore a sweater with the hood up sunglasses and gloves. It is also much harder to control than i anticipated i hope this comes out well.

first attempt

not clean at all...

after some work on it im still not impressed with myself.

now for the side window just touching this with the dremel scares the crap outa me

first cut a bit closer its not looking clean i really hope i dont screw up my whole mod because i cant cut for crap.

and thats all i got done before it got dark out took like 30 minutes or so, hard to do with sunglasses on i need some safety goggles.

Well thats all for now folks, tomorow ill finish the side panel and buy the rest of the stuff i need from hardware stores IE rivet gun, lexan, wire stripper. hopefully tomorow i can finish the side window. I would love some comments from you guys on how i can improve my cutting.

Thanks for watching! ^_^

CR swears by using tapping fluid on all metal cuts on his intelligence mod, maybe that would help?

Your cuts are going to be rough with a cutoff blade.

Either take your time (really really slow) and file/sand the edges to your liking afterwards..

Or,

You can get an attachment for the dremel that'll allow you to use a cutting bit (vertical).

It's basically like a drill bit except you can cut sideways with it. That kit should include a little attachment for the front of the dremel to allow it to stand up on a flat surface while the bit cuts sideways into the material. To further improve your cuts, you can attach a straight-edge guide to that kit for perfectly straight lines.

If you dont wanna purchase any more tools then you could probably make some sort of homemade guide to attach to the dremel as-is that would help with cutting straighter.

P.S. Throw all your tool questions at me, I work at a Home Depot part time

Just go nice and steady, I didn't get a lot of sparks when cutting out my fan grills.

I achieved this with just a dremel, no sanding/filing.

Day 3-Things start to pick up.

Hello again everyone!
today i went to Lowes and Autozone and picked up a buncha things for the build. following that i spent a few hours modding before it got dark out.

So i got all this crap today

some acrylic cut to the right length from lowes, it seems all scratched but i think its just in the sheet over both sides(i hope)

some sanding block things i totaly failed at cameraing them lol..(ended up being very useful)

sandpaper for lapping

some paint i still have 2 kits of the mirage to come.

alright im gona show u all the paint i got if any of its not gona work for what i say im gona use it for please say something as i was very confused when picking this stuff out.

acid etching primer to prime all the metals

primer for the plastic stuff

gloss black for the interior

and finaly clearcoat

now if any of that isnt what i think it is or wont work for what i want it to work for please speak up as im very unsure.

alright at this point in time i went downstairs and start working on the side panel from yesterday, i ended up getting black paint all over myself and couldnt get the camera until after i did about 2 and a half hours of work on it.

Before

After

still need to file and sand it but its looking dramaticaly better than yesterday

disposed of the center

then i got this a little better, im just gona c channel it but it looked Fugly yesterday

and close up

Alrighty now im wondering since i could only find silver colored screws would painting them black work? if anyone knows it would be a big help. im thinking that screwing them in might damage the paint on them and make them look bad but if anyone knows if painting them would work please tell me.

Tomorow i will finish the side window and paint a test peace so i get some practice in before the mirage stuff gets here.

Thanks for watching! ^_^

Subscribed. I like the work so far.
I myself is doing a little modding with my A900. The process is slow do to money being tight. But it's coming along. I too got the same Dremel set at HomeDepot. When I first used it, it was going all over the place.

If you end up getting the mb before you paint. Try to do the holes for wire management first. That way you don't scatch the paint job. And it's easier seen you have it all apart now. CyberDruid sales a nice kit for the holes. Just a thought. And yes you can paint the screws black. I have seen it do here. Just stick them in a foam and paint.
