Acer 4520 laptop overclock. Success!!! How to inside. Might work on others?

Thread Starter
I have an Acer 4520 laptop and for no reason at all, I just had to see if I could overclock it some how. I found this on nVidia's website: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_...ools_6.02.html and it works!!! I only overclocked it by 10%. I don't want to push it and burn it up. Original CPU speed was 1700mhz, now it's running smoothly at 1867mhz. I'm running Orthos in the background as I type this. So far 3 hours and it's just fine. I don't think I'm going to get a huge performance gain with a 167mhz overclock, but I just did it just to say that my laptop is overclocked. LOL.

How to:

Download from the link and install all 3 programs.
Run the "Performance" program.
Agree to the terms.
Open "Device settings"
Move the "HT bus" slider a little to the right.
Save as _______.
Then go to "profile policies".
Check "Load this profile" (then tell it which profile)
Then select "when windows starts"
Hit "Accept"
Re-boot
Run CPU-Z and it should have worked.

It should work. You have an AMD dual core Athlon X2 and a nVidia motherboard simular to mine. Try it and let me know.

The stuff that goes between the CPU (and graphics core) and the heatsink to help remove heat from the system.

Stock stuff is mediocre at best. Using a better TIM (AS5, OCZ Freeze, MX-2 etc) helps reduce heat.

It has some type of thick double sided tape in there, so I didn't mess with it. Is there a better way to do this? I do have it sitting atop a 3 fan cooler (which blows up) at all times though.

eww, tape. Terrible conductor. Only problem is just paste will not work, too much space. I think some have gotten a real thin sheet of copper to place in between where the pad is and put TIM on both sides of that, but I don't know for sure.
