My friend wants a video card he can run really intensive auto cad applications on, and be able to game on. Which is better? He wants to use Algor Fempro, Solid works, Auto CAD, and Inventor. He also wants to be able Bio-Shock, Warhammer Online, Star Craft II type stuff as well.

He is looking to put this into a new PC with a 3.0 GHz core 2 Quad, 4 GB of RAM and a 500 GB hard drive.

I talked to a friend who works on some government project where they simulate explosions and stuff with tanks and whatnot. He said the current versions of the "workstation" video cards are really not much more help than a standard card. I don't know if anyone else has this experience. We have hundreds of PCs at my university and they run NX 5.0 (Soon to be NX 6 weeee!) and I'm pretty sure they have standard video cards. They run pretty good.
