AX2100DMT3C Overclock.

Thread Starter
All the links for the info on Socket A are dead. I want to overclock my AMD Athlon XP AX2100DMT3C 2100+ (Palomino) to as high as I can get it. I'm using an Epox EP-8KTA3. I've never overclocked anything in my life.... well I mean I used the BIOS to increase the RAM frequency a bit, and I used RIVA on a GPU, but that's really simple, and I don't know of any utilities for CPU's.

I'm currently running at 1733MHz. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I read something about Palominos not OC'ing well, but I wanted to try anyway.

I'm not sure about Palamino's, but the highest I've seen Athlon XP's get on air would be around 2.2-2.3Ghz..

Generally, its the same as Core 2 Duo overclock, with different voltage, and the FSB you select in the BIOS should be x2, not x4. (Doubled and Quadrupled), that's afaik, and I only got my Athlon XP about 100Mhz above stock (1.9Ghz stock speed).

Also, make sure you have good cooling for it.

I've seen XP's hit a bit higher than that, I remember a couple in the 2.4GHz range... but I think you're right about palaminos... so you'll be lucky to get much out of it. ( I got my barton to 2.297GHz FYI)

Oh and as far as the dual or quad multiplier... On an XP you didn't have to multiply for anything, unless you mean the FSB to ram speed (if its at 1:1, then you'd multiply the fsb by 2 to get your final ram speed).

Good luck, post up any questions and we'll be glad to help

Oh, and yes, the XP's run hot, so some better cooling will help.

I got some room on the temps. I'm running low to mid 50's °C under full load 24/7. The core cooks at 90°C. Is there a way to take screenshots of the BIOS? I have a couple questions about a page.
