have you tried using 2.2V and have you increased MCH voltage?
also, does your board have a setting for EPP or XMP near the memory enhance setting?

yea and yea

i tried mch as much as +0.350v @ 450mhz fsb

ram v up to 2.25v @ 1080mhz with memory enhance - turbo (it makes higher copy speed - std is around 8400mb/s, turbo 9600mb/s)

and it failed in windows memory diagnostic tool at 23-29% per round (its testing plus LRAD or stride6), usually 5-6round sometimes sooner sometime later.. I once tweaked GTLR1,2 and it looked like it helped but still its not it, i used both at -3%.. GTLR1 is (+3%, auto, normal, -3%, -6%), GTLR2 is (normal, -3%, -6%, -9%).

memtool 4.2 passed at even 1090mhz but this win.mem diag. tool is a tougher biatch..

try setting it to profile 1 for EPP and leave all other timings set to auto and make sure you're using the 400mhz fsb strap

well i dont have a real EPP option but it detects 1066mhz automatically, i have only 2.40b (333mhz) strap that's ok, 400mhz strap is only 1:1 (fsb:ram) ratio or something over 1300mhz

I was testing 1087 mhz here, but yea it fails even on auto..

i made a thread @ corsair forums but no one replied,
http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92073

in the last post i thought i found the right timings but its not it - i got a sound loop freeze in Team fortress2 after 25-30min or so..
Yeah the sound loop freeze is almost always a memory problem. Try loosening up to 5-5-5-18 and cranking the voltage to 2.2 or a little over. You've upped the mch core right?

Hi, tnx for all your help!

Im gonna do some more testing later tonight
post #1077 of 1105
Meh nope its crap ram chip quality.. I bought it about 1.5 year ago and since then i can't get it 100% stable at higher fsb, lol im stuck at around 440-445mhz with good mem bandwidth.. Anyway so now I've used 5-5-5-18 at 445mhz (1068mhz) mch +0.325v, ram 2.25v and still it failed at 6th round in windows mem diag. tool (25-30min) -_-

Before this 4gb set I had 2x1gb same corsair and could go up to 460mhz (1100mhz), but yea it had better micron d9 chips..heh I know someone with amd cpu same ram revision as me 1.2 and he is stuck at only 1035mhz.. lol so I guess im kinda lucky to get this high at higher fsb. At stock 333mhz or 400mhz fsb (1066mhz) its ok, but yea with lower overall speed..Ah well guess i'll stick at ~ 1063mhz and wait until next cpu upgrade.

Although i saw this ram: TakeMS DDR2-1066 Mach2 Series 2x2gb
http://www.takems.com/mach2/en/info.html

is it any good? its quite cheap i could get me two 2x2gb kits.

Idk. I haven't heard of it, but id ask in the memory forum. They should know.

ok im still at my old ram, but i somehow managed to break 445mhz again..

im at 447mhz fsb, ram at 1073mhz and its fine

it was ok at 448mhz too (1075mhz), but i saw i got better lowest fps at 447mhz..

i used this:
cpuv: 1.35v (llc off) [GTLR 1,2 both at normal]
mch: +0.300v
fsb: +0.15v
ram: 2.15v [5-5-5-15; 5-5-10-70-6-perf. lvl 7- auto-2t]

i think it was either cpu voltage fault or by memory advanced timings. I'll see how it goes, but for now it looks like its ok, although ram fails at 1080mhz still, so 3.6ghz is out of the question for now

lol at least i managed to OC beyond 1068mhz again

I'll be upgrading my Q9450/Mobo/RAM in 6 months or so, but I decided to return to overclocking my Q9450 just to see how far I could push it. I could boot into Windows at just under 3.6Ghz, but Prime95 would fail after only a few seconds. I had it stable for quite a while at 3.45Ghz, but that was at 1.375v, so I decided to settle for a 3.2Ghz at v1.318v. That's normally how I overclock though - I'll push it as far as I can within the voltage range I'm comfortable, then when I find the max stable (for 30 mins or so) I'll knock it back a couple of pegs. Stability and a little extra longevity is more important than a 2% speed increase you'll never notice in real-world use (unless you're doing a 24 hour rendering job or something, which even then is minimal).
