You should reach 3.2 pretty easy with 1.25vcore and 1.4NB.

I like that program simply because of what you said "will it work?" To be honest, you are not going to get a 100% stable system with the FSB over 475. 450 seems to be the sweat spot. I can run all day with it up to 495 and not have many problems but some point during the day, something will happen. Whether the game im playing locks up, the computer just freezes all together or everything shuts down with the sound looping over and over. It may happen 3 times during the day or maybe none that day. For a while, i thought it was my sound driver because Vista and my SoundBlaster X-Fi card don't like each other. Ive installed my sound drivers probably 20 x's this weekend and used that program to help find a stable system faster then running Prime.
Maybe its because I'm running 32 and not 64... but for me, to have a flawless system day in day out and not have to worry about anything i keep it at 3.6 and 1.3V (used Auto until I had a final clock which was at 1.28 so i bumped it 2 notches) which is 450 Fsb and my memory is linked for a slight OC and all seems good. Its lighting fast, real smooth and my frame rate is at a minimum of 60+ in my main games.
Yeah I saw that 4GHz+ OC! Nice job on that! I believe my sweet spot is 476x8@1.29vCore. Anything much higher than 3.9 GHz seems to just take too much. Too much vCore, MCH/NB, etc. I've been looking at the 9550's since my friend wants to buy my 9450 - I'm sure I could land an easy 4GHz clock on it which would basically put me at the "Extreme" performance arena. I see a lot of the Intel extreme processors right at or around 4GHz so a 9550 seems to suit that for me.

Was the 4+ GHz overclock stable enough for a 3dmark06 run?

ran Vantage fine. haven't tried 06. I think its the game i play that forces me to back down on the Cpu.

I feel like i did something wrong on this TRUE mount (or lap) and just wanted to check. Idle temps at 3.48 1.25vcore are 45-47-49-49, load temps hit as high as 60-63-65-65. This is with un-burned in AS5, seems too hot for this cooler though. (Temps from CoreTemp 0.99.3)

Hi guys, I've been wanting to post on here for a while, and I'm still reading through this thread, but I got excited and wanted to share my OC with you. I've been slowly increasing my clock speeds since I got this processor, and though heat from the stock cooler had me stuck at 3.2 GHz for a while, once I installed the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro (and did some further tweaking in the bios of my Biostar MB), I was able to go almost instantly up to 3.6GHz. I reached 3.8GHz without too much trouble, and it's 100% stable at that speed with max temps hitting about 60c under load. I also have my ram timings at 6-6-6-18.

Here is my CPU validation for 3.8GHz

I hope to join in on the further exploration of this processor, and I think a stable 4GHz OC is doable!

Ransom

Note: I'm working on getting some faster ram to help get things more stable at higher speeds. Oh, and how do I check what batch my processor is?

Dude, what voltages do you use for 495-500+ FSB? Honestly, if you are at 1.36v or some wimpy crap like that, you have a lot of headroom. First, make sure you are using some form of vDroop removal, like LLC or a pencil mod. That will really make things more stable. Second, any voltage under 1.5v for 24/7 use on water cooling is perfectly fine... you aren't going to damage or degrade anything.

I can do 495FSB stable... but with 1.55V and LLC, which is too much for 24/7 I feel, but fine for benching. I have been up to 1.65v with my futile attempts to boot at 500FSB, even if for a quick screenshot. The closest I've been to achieving this goal is the vista login screen, but it froze while I was typing my password.

For 24/7 use I keep it at 459 FSB with 1.425v and LLC. But about your crashing/freezing at high FSB, that does indicate an instability. Likely you need to increase the CPU and NB voltage or both to get fully stable. You can use IntelBurnTest to see if you are really stable or not. It is a lot better than any of the other stress programs, and it uses the same linpack libraries to stress the CPU that intel uses when getting their CPUs stable at their given speed.

Thanks for this info! You are spot on, changing the timings even to 5-5-5-15 (from 4-4-4-12) makes things much more stable at 3.4Ghz

The problem I have now is with heat Looks like my Zalman 9700 isn't up to the job for going over 3.2Ghz, 3.4 Ghz seems stable, but CPU temps (IntelBurnTest) are now 70-70-71-72 which is a little high for my liking (still at 1.164v, but with LLC)

I don't think my case with it's tiny 5x 60mm fans is helping either. I might look at a new case and cooler/cooling at some point

damn! sorry guys, I meant 1.28vcore .... d'oh!

It was my RAM holding back. I needed to manually adjust the speed as it was set to Auto and it was trying to take it way beyond the spec.

I now have 3.0Ghz. i've done this using the x6 multiplier (i dont know why but this seems to be more effective for me). The CPU FSB is set to 500Mhz.

My RAM is at 500Mhz (x2 = 1000Mhz) with timings of 5-5-5-15. It is still running 60Mhz under spec but this motherboard will not let me manually adjust the Mhz, the options are 200hmz, 266Mhz, 333Mhz and 400Mhz - and there are different settings for each. A, B,C, D. - its called the MCH frequency latch and the system memory multiplier.

I'm now stuck at 3.00Ghz though.

What is the usual setting for the PCI express in Mhz? This is set to auto at the moment and I'm worried that this may also be holding me back if the system is pushing it beyond the recommended spec. Any ideas guys?

EDIT: what is the NB voltage???
