Alright Last night went well.Upgraded Hp from puny HDMi 8600Gt 1 lousy dvi to
8800 1gig Akimbo 100.new shipped Ebay.Yup buying the other Asus Mobos helped as this was a job fitting that Monster in the Case cuz of course this OEM crap board sata connections were underneath the rear of the Akimbo ah angled Sata connector.Didn't mind loosing The Tv vivo Tuner or whatever it is cuz never used it have OOL cable.Buying the other Stuff and stockpiling helped as the 25.00 New 680 watt PSU only had 2 Sata power but had Two adaptors to get T 4.So cool the Way Hp built this case only 1hour to figure out how to find hidden levers and push out blu ray burner for one lousy PSU connection to the front of the case and to disconect the HD enclosure assembly.Hey so what could not Close the side panel because the new cooler
29.00 Amazon special bought 5,Vendetta II sticks out? I pulled out my jigsaw/drills and cut a clean circular hole and mounted a blue Led Yan loon fan with chrome Guard soooo cool!!.Shoosh spent two months buying bidding stock piling preparing for this! Ahh no overclock feature in oem asus Hp crap board oh well some research. All right why I wait for a deal on Newegg/ebay/mwav etc on an asus microatx to fit into Hp frankenstien mobo to use with 4gig 800 OCZ ram with mb conections to match the current mobo.OCZ super deal at Negg50bucks after rebate! Got lucky that She fired up after 3 times without the made in rice field generic 4gigs ram might be decent will throw into another build or sell it with Hp crap board on ebay. With a bit of luck a used asus P5Vm shows up but then havent figured out if bios chip is soldered yet! Let me cut this RANt short need to get something to eat finished at 5 AM woke up at 1pm and went back at it.After everest CPU Z PLL chip attempt at overclock got me to 2.8 then freeze. will try BSEL mod.If she boots loads for awhile gets unstable need more juice its obvious. This g33 bearcrap Asus Mobo is used with E8500 E8400 and Q6600 Q6700 and who knows what else. The q6600 default voltage is higher than q9450.Okay have to fool the board with a Vid mod on q9450!!!!!Maybe? or perhaps a V droop mod on the board?

Anybody got a Clue?

Thanks.figure this is a good place as I will have 3 Q9450 Asus Computers and one E8500 Diamond 7.Hey frys had an awesome deal several weeks ago bought 2 at
265.00 each! Hey I am not cheap Guys just FRUGAL and patient think I will have a beer first before eating something its already saturday night LOL.

Any help appreciated.

I have the other boards Asus p5k wifi and pe3 deluxe wifi but they do not fit into the Hp nor does the D7 and anyways already bought the cases and I got fond of the Hp case and built the rolling adjustable tower of the DLp projector arround it.The other cases do not fit. Also if I succeed could post it to help others who bought this $%I* computer.
One last fall back have a used E6400 to throw in it and overclock it.Keep the Q9450 for another board and throw it in the Hp?

But nothing ventured nothing gained!!!!! Thanks for any info!!!!
q9450 is 45nm, so it needs less voltage. you can't just flash the bios so you don't have the hewlett packard BS in it ?

?Wall of sound is better.

Thanks for the response.Checked out Newegg Asus barebones close these g33 boards but no cigar. The p5vm g33 chipset was the closest Asus board I could see that looked close but risky unless I am ready to flash twice if the first fails and then put the oem flash back.First have to catch up on flashing!!!

It seems a lot of Intel chips can be taped in order to fool the motherboard iether fsb or and voltage.Found a mod for the Q9450 to bring it to 3.2.The problem is the voltage.I know already need more voltage cuz because the board CPU freazes windows at 2.8 playing the pll mod windows software which shows 4.25 for about two minutes then freezes. Its iether 2.8 one notch then 4.25.Obviously a Vista or software problem.

Hi, im new 2 overclocking, just build my own pc, asus p5e3 premium with q9450 and some ocz ddr3 was well. just wanted 2 what my overclock was like and any tips if if (which im sure it can) be improved.
i herd that it was good 2 hav a 1:1 ratio with the external clock and the memory clock but when i increase my bus speed my dram frequency gos up at the same rate. giving me 3:4, do i slow down the ram or leave it?
just installed a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 and was wondering what my temps were like and how hot can the cpu get before damage?
thanks
tim

Hi.
Hey though not quite a newbi. My experience is with older Technology. From what I have read sometimes pushing ddr2 or ddr3 into overclock does not yield increases in throughput.
1 to 1 does not seem to be the average more like 1to 2.It appears that this has to do with the memory manufacturer. The higher you go the looser the timings on the memory.Researching this a few weeks ago drove me nuts.So took advantage of Fire sales and purchased two different sets of 2gig OCZ DDR3 for the same mobo p5e3 to be safe. The set recomended and another with a lot of overclock headroom.Figure slap it together learn then throw in the other set and go for the 3.6 to 4.00 stable overclock.
good luck with your build.Today going to slap together my Dj appliance Diamond 7 with an E8500 and a search for a VID mod on Q9450 to see if I can sqeeze some performance out of this OEM HP Asus board. So far other than risking a bad flash and bricking the board from a similar Asus board stuck with the no option no overclock Bios.
will post how the BES mod worked but know already the chip will need a bit more voltage unless I get lucky like I did with the ram.Good choice your board. What did you pay for it?

Just got off the phone. One last thing have seen that mobo on other boards with a stable 3.6overclock with Q9450.That Asus suite looks awesome thanks for the thumbnails!

Hi, giboni. i made a mistake, iv got q9400 not q9450
i payed £100 for it on ebay, yes i no im cheap! although it was cheap and looked very clean. the on board wifi-n is very nice, getting the new bt router 2 match the 802.11n.
the ai sute is easy and when u overclock the cpu, you can up the external bus with out restarting, i found this handy and time saving.
i still have a few problems, but i think when i do a clean instal (had amd before) on my new hdd 2 make raid 0 it might solve them.
my cpu is stable at 3.2 so ill probably up the bus again but bit wary as i think i have a cuple of stuck temp senors.
what temps are you running?
if u hav any intresting info about ur mobo, ram and cpu or setting id love 2 hear them.
cheers

overclock from the bios, always.

you're using prime95/realtemp for stress testing ?

Looked it up the Q9400 good chip runs cool.6mb cache versus 12 for Q9450 which would suggest a performance hit on some applications.Sounds like a bargain = 144.84 american at last exchange rate a few minutes ago. What did you pay for the motherboard as it is the same as mine?I have the OCZ DDR 2000,and the recomended by Asus I think OCZ Titanium
1600 which Asus recommends for our board.tonight still jerking arround with my HP bearcrap OEM board an absolute pain in the unmentionable. The Hp case is compact and have to remove the motherboard to take out the monster cooler to get to the chip.I decided to put back the original rice ram and Keep the ocz for my E8500 MSI Diamond build might finish that tomorrow.Well let me get back to the Hp and keep my fingers crossed maybe the BES mod will kick it to 3.2 stable and I will leave it be saves me the hassle of buying another Asus board that fits just to overclock and blow another hundred dollars.Ill post in an hour after this Computer is reassembled.Did read a few posts that the Q9450 at 3.2 will run at stock voltage.Id prefer 3.6 but not happening with Hp OEM Asus g33 bearcrap board. If this refurbished Hp did not have a Blu ray burner I would have been better of building a media center possibly.Though the vidio card with HDMI was no bargain at the time Q9450 was 319 Blu ray burners 175 ram dvd burner etc plus Vista premium the wifi it seemed like a bargain the parts add up withe shipping to get me started. If it runs at 3.2 I will be happy. If not will search for an Asus with the same Chipset and similar connectors and hope
The installed Vista on the hard drive will accept it.Sell the original mobo on ebay.Someone who needs to replace the motherboard on their Hp with the same board will buy it.Shoosh at 150.American you got a lot of Chip and processing power for the Money.I didn't even know Q9400 existed.Well back to the drawing board!!!!!!
