I got my Q9450 to 4ghz the other day.

Here is my Validation link: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1227455

It took me about 4 hours to get there with a hell of alot of trial and error. What a fantastic chip!
Add me to list. im gonna update my system info in few minutes ..

Atm IBT stable 10 runs standard.

Im testing how low i can set vcore i think it will be around 1.26-1.30.

Should i use 1:1 fsb:ram divider? Which i already have ..
Bought some a-data extreme with micron d9 chips.. But these neeeds lots of voltage to run on 4-4-4-12 @ 460. so i use 5-5-5-15

I am afraid I will be leaving you all soon, as my Q9650 will be shipped out tomorrow, and my Q9450 will be put up for sale.

Still a fond farewell for all of you owners of a great CPU.

Suitably jealous good luck with the new chip.

Hello all, new member here. Recently began attempting to overclock my q9400 after doing quite a bit of research on the subject. I seem to have it stable at 3.2ghz, on a P5Q Pro Turbo, and am starting to work on 3.6ghz. I am pretty sure I can get it to at least 3.8 but I am looking for some advice. I admit I am new to overclocking but it has consumed my free time for about a month now, and I am looking to improve. I would like to join this club if possible. Anyway, my relevant current data and voltages for the 3.2 OC (400 FSB) are as follows:

Vcore - 1.128v (1.15v BIOS)
DRAm - 1.8v (400mhz) stock
FSB Term. - 1.2v (+.1 from min)
CPU PLL - 1.5v (min)
SB - 1.1v (min)
NB - 1.2v (+.1 from min)
FSB strap to NB - auto
LLC - enabled
CPU margin - compatible

blah
blah

Everything else seems to be optimized for overclocking, but I haven't messed with the RAM settings yet. I left them all on auto to test my ram at DDR2 900 and did a memtest and everything seemed fine for the next step to 3.6. I may eventually need to get some 1066 if this current ram can't OC that high. Anyway, should I try to get my Vcore lower at 3.2? What do you all think of these numbers? My current temps should be in my sig. I simply have stopped testing lower vcore voltage settings as 1.128 and 1.15 in bios seem pretty low to me. Someone familiar with this board could perhaps help me out the most, but any response will be appreciated, and I will take any advice offered. Thanks.

Hey all,

I'm just getting started with learning the overclocking process and need some help. I've been following the OC guide listed on the 1st page of the thread, and when I ran OCCT, my temps jumped from 40*C idle to 77*C load before I stopped the test. Should I reseat my CPU, as I feel like my case cooling (2x 120mm 63cfm scythe fans upfront and 1 on side, stock 120mm back exhaust and 200mm top exhaust) should be enough to OC the chip a bit, or at least not see these high of temps.

Running a Seasonic S12 550W just to give you complete spec's in addition to my signature.
