It depends on the board, but some places to search for the revision/version number: A sticker on a PCI slot (usually the bottom-most one); a silkscreened notation between some DIMM slots; a silkscreened notation in the expansion slot area; near the 24-pin ATX power connector. Typically it will give you the motherboard model name, then the revision/version number (i.e., Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Rev. G.0.1 or something similar).
As far as which BIOS is on there, you need to be booted onto the machine to find that out, unfortunately. In your case, that might be impossible (since you're now RMAing the board). Hopefully someone can chime in with a solution.
