If you're waiting that long, you might as well get a high end i7 build. Sweet build though

DDR3 especially on a new socket just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe once they figure out all the kinks of the new architecture then maybe I will consider it. What I am counting on is the price drop of these items as I will be getting a 2nd job in order to afford this "improved" version of Lux Aeterna.

Notes: *If* the Rampage Extreme will be in stock by then and DDR3 prices are much more affordable for DDR3-1800(and+) then the Rampage Formula will be replaced by the Rampage Extreme if NOT then it will be kept or I will go with the Maximus II formula. Also If there will be a price drop on the QX9770 then I will substitute it over the Q9650 if not I will stick to the Q9650. Also there might be a possibility that instead of going Penryn I might go Deneb *if* the performance is greatly improved over Penryn. I have no interest in Nehalem at the moment being.

Basically in my tender for a new computer system for late Q4 I have evaluated both an current-gen AMD and Intel build and the prices seem to nearly match with the AMD being a bit cheaper but performance wise the Intel wins out. I have evaluated the Spider Platform build from the AMD build logs of an improved configuration and therefore I have chosen to go with Intel.

Lux Aeterna II is still on schedule but October cannot no longer be maintained. Possible order date : Mid/Late November. In the meanwhile I am evaluating an AMD Phenom X4 as a possible tender. Updates to be posted ASAP.

Phase 0: Finalization of system specifications and analysis of competiting offers. Finalization of finances and stock checking.

Phase 1: Main system.

Phase 2: Sound Card (Auzentech X-Fi Prelude or X-Fi Titanium) and possibly second video card (to speed up Phase 1 completion) and Razer Megalodon headset.

Phase 3: 24" or 30" Samsung monitor.

Concerns: Stock of 4870 X2 , Stock of Corsair 1000 Watt , Stock of Q9650.

Alternative's: E0 stepping Q9550 [if not available or Q9650 not available AMD Tender chosen].

UPDATE 1: Funding available in late October.

Phase 1 has been extended to Early November. Q9650 chosen instead of Q9550. Auzentech X-Fi Prelude included in Phase 1. Motherboard purchased. Funding available in late October but purchase and component assembly begins in early November.

Please read above if you do not understand the phases. The phases basically covers the entire system upgrade process and include the system to the monitor to the headset etc... There is no point in me posting pictures of the motherboard (NIB) but as soon as I have all the necessary components I will be sure to post back as soon as possible.
