Buffer tanking is for pvp or when you have logistics only ;-)

I am going to try the free 14 day trial, but such trials are never any good. They do not give you a good taste of the game. However I am a huge fan of RPG games and I love PvP.

I want to know just a few things

How is the PvP in EVE? I know it is completely different than World of Warcraft, but I do love PvP and I liked having arena teams and battle grounds. I am guessing you do not have that in EVE.

Are you really isolated unless you join a guild? In WOW you could enjoy large parts of the game without a guild. Do I have to join one, because without one I am gonna get rolled in unprotected space?

What class is there too much of? Pirates? What is good for beginners?

How is the economy? I know EVE is economy driven, but is there such things as an auction house where the majority of the trading goes on? I enjoy having control over small parts of a game's economy. Explain how the economy works exactly.

Any central cities that you get to go to? I heard one of the biggest problems with EVE is that it might get lonely unless you spam general chat

Is it skill related in PvP? I love PvP, but is it skill oriented or more so just click and hope you blow up the other guy.

Yes you pretty much have to join a player corp to get the full experience. You can join NPC Faction Warfare corps though and get stuff going with people in those.

There are no classes in EVE

There are several hub trade systems which always have alot of people in them

The PvP at first glance may not seem like much but once you get involved youll realise your gonna have to be keeping track of alot of stuff, including how your moving, your oppenent is trying to move, your transversal velocity etc.

the main way to trade is the market, its 100% player driven, 99% of everything you see int eh market window was produced by another player. (accept skillbooks) . As for something like an AH you want to look at the Contracts market.

*EDIT* Also, Space works like this, Theres High-Sec (.5 and higher - Cant do PvP unless at war or have agression timers) Low-Sec ( .4 and lower - PvP anywhere basically provided you can survive sentry guns on stations and stargates, also you take a security status hit for shooting someone) and Null sec (0.0 - PvP anywhere anytime no sentry guns and no sec status penalty, also 80% of 0.0 is player owned not NPC-owned so that is kinda tough to get into)

*EDIT2* Its also skill related PvP but your not gonna be very effective beyond a tackler ( a term youll get to know quick if you want to PvP) in your first weeks

I know that in EVE it takes a while to get skill points and all that jazz, but what I mainly want to know is whether PvP requires skill or just amassing weapons and a bigger ship to blow up the other guy quicker or are there skills and timing cool downs and stuff like that.

Also is the PvP mostly massive scale or are there plenty of small skirmishes?
Theres alot of small scale stuff

But its about having a good fit on your ship and flying smart. just because the other guys got a big bad battleship doesnt mean your tech 1 cheap fit frigate wont kick his teeth in. Eventually.

*EDIT* heres a vid that seesm to be pretty good, i havnt watched it but its small ship -pvp. If its anything liek this users last, its also him being outnumbered like 6-10 to 1 as well in alot of it

EDIT2 That vid is like 1gb, might want to look elsewhere.

Yes it requires lots of skill. You need to know what type of ship and weapons to use to counter your expected enemy, and you also need to know when not to fight.
