I got bored at work today and started crunching a few numbers for the semi-afk mining I do when work is extremely slow.

Interestingly enough, with current market prices until you hit null sec, Veldspar is the most profitable ore. I still have to work on a couple of the lower-sec ores, but it's been staying strong. Also, Omber is more ISK/hour if you sell the raw ore right now instead of refining it, even at 100% refining efficiency. Retriever can pull in ~7m/hr, Hulk around ~12.5m/hr.

Not nearly as good as missioning or PvP of course, but I can't exactly do either of those when I only look at my game screen every 3 minutes. redface.gif

Yea, I always saw people mining the less common ores of the area but a quick isk/vol calculation told me 95% of the time that Veldspar was the most profitable. Its nice that there are large Veldspar asteroids also. Time spent switching roids because they are done in a few cycles is also less mined per hour, however slight it may be it can add up and increases the attention required by the player:p

Its been a while since I've mined, though. I have been doing incursions lately and hit 2 bil isk today thumb.gif

They are still profitable, but not nearly how they were before the nerf. I would say average of 60 mil an hour for an assault or HQ fleet is about right, depending on how strict or relaxed the FC runs the fleet. Shield side I don't see very many vanguard fleets running. I do see them more armor side, but I think its mainly because they lack the people to run bigger sites. The armor community was on the verge of death after the nerf. They are reversing the reward nerf of vanguards soon, so who knows if they will be worth doing again or not. I hear you used to be able to make 100m an hour or more in vanguards, though I started after the nerf.

On one toon im running a Scimi, and on another an armor Navy Geddon. Both ships were under 350ish mil, though ive thrown a few upgrades on each. With ship replacement programs, there is almost no risk, so its not bad at all. They're just not the isk press they one were. If you are interested in starting them, join one of the channels. The community is extremely helpful.

They are actually rolling back a couple of the nerfs on incursions, seen here: http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=72880

edit: as the post above touched on.

So I'm 5 days into the trial and here are my thoughts:

1. Wow there are a lot of things to learn
2. Graphics and environments are huge and amazing looking
3. There are a lot of training missions, but are amazingly helpful
4. I'm addicting to watching my skill queue

I guess I'm now at the point where I know some of the basics and am getting tired of running missions (they are fun though, just in moderation). Any suggestions on whats another fun activity or the next step for a rookie to take?

- Current ship: cormorant

So I hardly play at all any more, but I finally finished out non-cap laser skills on one of my alts. I wonder if they would get mad if I just start giving away characters.... fell free to hit me up if you see me online, but its rare thumb.gif

Veldspar has been the most profitable high sec ore for quite a while now. Unfortunately it's also irritating to mine due to there never being enough of it.
