I don't agree. It's a pretty stock meg fit. I've seen some w/ blasters instead of rails but there's really nothing out of the ordinary about it.
The point of all this was to convince a new player who just started an account days ago, to consider switching from Gallente to one of the other races. Sure, it's possible to be combative w/ a Gallente account and some of the ships do have a place but it is not the easiest way to go about it.
If i had it to do over again, I would have started either an Amarr or a Minmatar character instead. Even the Caldari is going to become somewhat passe, as they're nerfing heavy missiles in a few days.
I really don't care what anyone w/ a Myrm think's it can do. Everyone know's it's a crap ship. The fact that some people don't want to admit to it because they're stuck with it, is irrelevant.

No, everyone doesnt "know" the myrmidon is a crap ship mainly because its a pretty good ship. just because you noobed one up in a lvl3 doenst mean its bad (though with drone bandwidth restrictions now it certainly isnt as good as it was, which i guess is a good thing because it was pretty godly with 5 ogres and the old style NOS). even in PvE a single rep myrm with spec hardeners and rails is plenty for any level3 out there.

The fact is that any race can train for any ship, especially now because you dont start partly spec'd into anything anymore so losing the toon to try another race is pretty stupid.

Your a squid at heart, so unrelenting hate for Gallante is understandable but if you like drone boats Myrms are awesome.

Myrms are bad in blobs. This is a pretty common characteristic of gallente ships...most don't have the proper slot layout or engagement range for modern fleet doctrines. I mean sure, you can slap rails on an armor mega or shield hype and make a decent fleet ship, but they aren't optimal.

However, run into a gang containing that hype or mega with blasters, on a lowsec gate without a blob to back you up, and you're not going to enjoy it.

As for the myrm, neut/Nos/tri rep fits are loltastic bait in small gangs, and can be quite difficult to take down solo.

this is my Drake....

*the print is a little small so this is it.

High slots:

Heavy Missile launcher II x 7

Medium slots:

Large Shield Extender II x 2
Pithum A-Type Kinetic Deflection Amplifier x 2
Pithum A-Type Thermic Dissipation Amplifier x 1
( I have complete sets of 2 of each of the 4 hardeners to swap out as needed and the T2's would work just as well.)
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner( the 'Rep' buys you a little more cap)

Low slots:

Dread Guristas Control System x 2
Shield Power Relay II x 2

Rig slots:

Medium Core Defense Purger II x 3 (yes, i know...overkill. the T1's would work just fine but i need something to spend all my ISK on. biggrin.gif)

that fit is cap stable btw.
Oh god... THATS NOT A PVP SHIP!!

Yes, Caldari are low SP PVE kings, bar none. That doesn't mean the rest are bad. I'd say Amarr are actually the hardest for new pilots. Lasers are not friendly for new players in missions since you can't choose your damage type so you have to pick your missions carefully. Gallente at least do kin/therm, which together pretty much cover every pirate faction weakness. Plus, drones can do any damage you need. The Vexor is a nice mission cruiser. The best Amarr cruiser for missions is... the Arbitrator. The laser ships are very hard to fit and hard to use in missions (this might change after the update*). And no matter how much you hate it, the Myrm IS a good ship for missions/solo/small gang stuff.
*Which reminds me, theres a large cruiser update which is very much relevant to newer players since its for frigates/cruisers.

I would GLADLY trade my Caldari/missile SP for Gallente/hybrids.
