Medal of Honor: Airborne won't install

It's reaching what I'm guessing to be 99% of the total installation, then the progress bar rolls back and tells me this:

On the box and website it says this game isn't compatible with Vista x64, but that's never stopped me from playing it on Vista x64 before. But I recently installed Vista x64 on a brand new HD though, got all the Windows updates/SP1 and everything, and I'm installing all my games again one by one. This one is giving me problems though trying to install. Was never a problem before. Suggestions?

Installing SP1 changes some options in windows back to default, including (I'm pretty sure) forced driver WHQL compliance. Double check that you have all the latest drivers for Audio, Video and Motherboard (SATA etc.) direct from the manufacturer.

My Vista disc has SP1 incorporated into it, so it installs SP1 right off the bat. And all my hardware drivers are up-to-date.

This is almost certainly a driver issue then. you just re-installed Vista on a brand new hard drive and installed every update? you say that your drivers are up to date, but did you use the windows drivers? or did you get them from your manufacturer?

Got it working. Should've looked harder on google, because I stumbled across an article that addresses the exact issue I was having. All I had to do was enable Windows Firewall for the game to finish installing. Because the game -- during installation -- evidently tries to get a handle on the Windows Firewall settings. Go figure. And I keep it disabled, because I use my own Firewall program instead. Ugh, hours wasted on troubleshooting and numerous rebooting/reinstallation tries...

Most programs that try to do this don't drop everything if it doesn't work...
lol, talk about bad programming. They didn't think up the possibility that SOMEBODY might disable the firewall!

Uninstall AGEIA Phys-X.

Install the game and presto.

Then update Physx back to the latest version once you have done.
