My First Build - Psychedelicatessen - Page 2

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/M...45&ChangeQty=0

here is a better build for you, and that case combo you have could probably fit into your budget with this rig

edit: forgot the sound card, but you can get an x-fi xtreme gamer for around $85 and still make your budget. So far, better cpu, gpu, better psu quality, better everything! for cheaper // same price!

Here's My update - thanks for all of your input

i decided to stick with nvidia gpu just because i am racist against ATI (i had issues with my 9800)

here's what im lookin at now

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L LGA 775
CPU: E5200 Wolfdale
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX
HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS
GPU: PNY VCG88512GXEB-FLB GeForce 8800 GT
Memory: OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB
DVD: SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner SATA
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium

Total comes to $760.87 w/ case combo.

my only question is should i throw in a CPU cooling unit or will 2x80mm and 1x120mm fans do the trick?

1st of all that sli ram is a marketing scheme and is not reallt necessary. save $10 and get these cause they are HIGHLY overclockable:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231122

Definitely get a getter CPU cooler because the stock HSF with the E5200 is like a .2/10 in my book.

only reason i would pick the OCZ over the g.skill is that its a little bit better known brand to me and im not really looking to overclock anything too extremely. however that g.skill got some pretty nice reviews and the price will make it easier to afford that heatsink.

So i'll take ur advice there and go with the gskill ram and the heatsink+mounting bracket.

as for fans would i be alright with 2 80mm or should i do 3 now in this case?

Id personally go Gskill over OCZ anyday.. G skills have been known to push their speed to the limits.. as That being said u should go for these great g skill HZ'S with micron d9 chips.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231065

micron d9's make me grunt like time the toolman taylor ARR ARR. but yeha the ones I posted would probably suit you better and maybe pick up some d9's on your next build/upgrade when you have a bit more experience overclocking
