once I enabled it in the bios the board let me push it on up now sitting @ 3.3ghz and I stress tested it for 6 hours and never got above Tc@60c and all cores running about 60c~70c! I am still going to replace the board got a RMA from ASUS but I am just glad to see it get up over the 3ghz mark lol!
So i should try to enable speed step? see if that will help?
And when your RMA it are they giving you another p5n-t or how does that work?
I am going crazy trying to get my E8500 E0 just to 3.8GHz.. Absolutely the worse board for a first time overclocker like myself. I almost gave up overclocking until I read about how horrible this board was

OMG I have been up every night till 5am screwing with this thing but ever since i enabled that speedstep and played with some of the volt settings up we go! and yes they are giving me a hand tested p5n-t board with my ram and q9550 and they are going to make sure it will overclock and also turn things on or off that it should!(hope you understand that sounded kinda off) and they are shipping me the board and then I ship my old board back so NO down time other than the past nights of BLUE SCREENS!!!!! lol and of coarse the build down/up

But that is not to say that you don't have a voltage drop problem aka v-droop what exactly is your system doing?

I know how you feel, and this is my first board that I have ever overclocked on. I will try to enable speed step and disable it again and let you know if that worked for me.

well if you download the trail version of AIDA64 and look at the chip-set on the motherboard and look at the Intel speed step and it will show you that your Intel chip supports it and if it is enabled if it is and you have it disabled most likely a good start to getting things moving. let me know if that covers it for you would like to know if I saved some one trouble lol

Well currently I got it to boot up at 3.8

1600fsb
800 ram
I bumped up my NB to 1.5(i found that voltage from other people on this forum)
And well... Not sure if stable yet, need to stress test it. But the only 2 changes were I enabled speed step, booted up then disabled it again. And bumped up the NB voltage to 1.5 and well.... no blue screen on startup Ill keep you posted

as I said you mite want to check to see if it is still enabled after boot up, mine was so just left it enabled and no problems overclocking now. I even got a better score 3dmark06 with it on that off go figure huh lol but, what I think is that the ACPI or HPET is getting mixed signals from the board and windows do too the speed step never really disabling

Well you are correct. The speedstep is inf act NOT working. No changes between enabled and disabled... weird stuff. Well all I can say is that because of this crappy mobo...I have learned/researched so much about Overclocking and know all about all the voltages and settings in bios and what they do. I am downloading the AIDA64 software right now and hopefully it will help me out.

dam that is not the right attitude lol, can you say smash any key to continue lol! I felt the same way! I don't know why you want to push it straight to 3.8 in my past systems I always had to go up a little at a time to get a stable system, doing burn-ins along the way. I have had MoBo that just let me push it straight to a hole point over stock but that was a p4 lga478 single core, the 45nm multi cores are very touchy from my understanding not as much your e8500 seen them pushed to 4.6ghz but I don't expect that guys system to last long. 4.0ghz seems to be a good cut off point for the e8500 from my readings.
