make sure that the jumpers are set on the hard drive(s) correctly for sataII operation.
install your motherboard's SATA/RAID/AHCI driver(s).
go into BIOS and enable AHCI mode for the hard drives.
look for a write back cache setting and try enabling it. it may be in BIOS, it may be on a seperate program in windows (ie western digital life data tools, intel storage matrix or whatever software came with your motherboard).
just make sure you install the drivers before you enable AHCI, or else you will not be able to boot into windows.
then, click on the start orb, and in the search/quick box, type "reliability". check to see what processes are running that could be thrashing your hard drive.
