Freon, though possibly non-flammable is extremely deadly when heat turns it into vapor. One breath and you're a dead person.

You're quite wrong on that. As an auto mechanic I deal with R12 and R134a very often. I've probably inhaled boat loads of it. And I'm still able to post here.
Some are bad for you, certainly, but hey, those aren't the normal ones.
