Double sided vs. single sided?

Thread Starter
How can you tell and what is the difference?

http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/post/289760.aspx

I don't see a difference other than the # is different.

You look down the middle of it, if the ram is on both sides its double sided, if the ram is on one side its single sided.

Not the best picture but here's double sided. (hopefully this is what you are asking about)

Single sided ram doesnt oc as good as double sided ram does, Due to single sided ram arent Micron d9 chips and tend to crash alot, time for RMA lol.. You can tell if your ram is Double or single lided by tilting the stick onto the side and see if the top clips are linked to the chip, if they are their double sided, if not their single sided

There are double sided ballistix without the clips, but yeah clips are more common with the DS ones.

Anyway, as Marin has said, the easiest way to tell is to just look at the chips. It's pretty self evident.

Most reports suggest that the single sided are still D9s (usually D9HNL), just not the D9GMH that are well regarded overclockers (as these don't have the density to make a 1GiB stick with fewer than 16 ICs).

^ Well that makes it easy.

I think I understand it...8 on each side...so 8 for single, 16 for double.

Makes sense at least.
