I remember hearing that it can cause data corruption, but if it is memtest stable for 3 passes or more, it should be fine.

i got to 1100MHz @1.8volts one pass on memtest, i will continue to push it! then do overnight memtest!!!

Thats what the G.Skill DDR2 1100 kit are rated at, 1.8v - 1.9v as listed on their specs.

i can run mine at 1068MHz using 1.9v (it's rated 2.0 - 2.2v). it's the lowest my mobo would allow, since putting it on AUTO the SPD kicks in and runs it at 2.0v

If you are 1100mhz stable at 1.8 then why not try 4-4-4-12 at 2.0, hell you might even be able to get down to 3-3-3-8
