Hello guys.
I just got my new E8400 with the idea of overclocking it to 3.6 and beyond. I've heard that many can get it up to 4 and about 3.6 is the minimum but I don't want to just plonk in numbers that others have gotten and see it all **** up on me.
I did a bit of overclocking on my previous 6400 but never too much because I didn't get stable results. I now have a new mobo and case which has an extra fan in it (which isn't spinning right now though...not sure why?)
You can treat me like a total newbie though so I'd really like just some general tips and steps to take etc. Some rough numbers of speed and volts would be well appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

. Do not go over 1.3625 for 24/7 use unless you want to buy another CPU in a few months! I have mine at around 4Ghz with 1.3625 vcore. I had to do a vdroop mod though. The newer chips should have E0 stepping and should OC better. If you still can not get stable, try upping the NB volts. You could also up the volts on your RAM a little to make sure it is not your RAM that is making you fail orthos. Someone else with your MoBo may be able to help you better with the exact settings. What are the temps you are getting, and what CPU cooler are you using?
