[TGDaily]99.8% of Gamers Don't Care about DRM - Page 10

EA really are the first of the Orwellian big brother games organisations. I mean seriously, you can't dictate to your customer base what they should and shouldn't like, its so ****ed up. And its everywhere. Music/Games/Politics. They are obviously listening with theyre ears closed and talking out theyre ass.

Didn't they say something along the lines of "only 0.2% of people are effected by Spore's DRM?" If so, this "study" seems to be pretty coincidental.

Much better, eh?
I concur. I don't care what sort of dong strokingly good game EA puts out, I'm not picking it up until boards are full of clamors that they've wised up and removed the DRM from it.

You've seen what the game did to Blizzard. One word and one numeral, Starcraft II. I wouldn't be surprised if they charged monthly to play Diablo 3 online.
What the hell are you talking about? Less fun, more difficult? What does DRM have to do with any of that? And if its less fun/more difficult, maybe you just dont like the genre of games?

Also, B.net will NEVER be pay to play... Blizzard wouldnt shoot themselves in the foot like that.

It's not fair that they control us... what's next? EA will control when we eat, sleep and f*ck? omg
Control you? What? Yeah, ok you cant install the game more than 3 times without deactivating an install.. Whats the big deal? Like I said, dont format 2x a month and youll be fine. Ive been running the same XP installation for months and it still boots hella-fast, and runs fast.

Gamers don't want anything to do with DRM though. That's the heart of it. People don't want it. So they shouldn't have to accept what is being forced on them. If your intruding on my property I'm not gonna let you set up camp if I don't want you there. Same applies to this. My PC is my property. In its entirety. The only people that can challenge me on that is the Law and games developers are not the law. They have no right to extract information from me because they are not an authority. END OF STORY.

Yeah well tell those gamers to go cry in a corner somewhere and leave the rest of us alone. I agree whole heartedly with lelouch. Ive been on OCN for just a few weeks and the DRM/NV HATE is all I see. I can't see how some of you live with the bias.

I am one of those that do not care about DRM. There hasn't bee a time when if I called or e-mailed about an activation issue it was never solved. I do wonder though if they are really trying to prevent piracy with this or make more money? Is there any one here that was told no, you have used up all your installs/activations and told that they would have to buy a new license?

It's all about money. Currently there is a whole industry that has grown around the concept of DRM and they have very big contracts and deals with publishers. Publishers don't care about piracy (they make their money either way and the only ones that could end up hurting are the developers) but they keep speaking against it in order to keep the whole DRM industry afloat.
For most people DRM is not an issue, except for the few times it causes conflicts with the user's hardware/software. People are apathetic to this issue unfortunately.

It's absolutely irritating, isn't it?

The sad thing is that instead of blaming pirates, they blame the game companies.

Evidently as a legal purchaser of these games I am being "punished" by the DRM, although I actually feel more "entertained" by playing the "DRM infested" games than "punished" since I have had absolutely ZERO trouble from any DRM, in fact if you hadn't told me it was there, I wouldn't even have known.

Getting angry when it causes installation issues on .001% of user's computers because they have some goofy anti-virus issue or firewall trouble is just plain silly. I've NEVER EVER EVER heard of a DRM issue on a clean windows install with properly installed driver software and reasonably up to date hardware.

By the time I would need to call in for a reinstall I am so thoroughly bored with the game that it sickens me even to look at the case.
