I want to see a test done with AA and AF. Guess I will wait for another site that can do a proper comparison.

we'll use the ati far cry 2 hotfix driver and for nvidia their yesterday's released 180.42 driver. Nvidia's benchmark results where extremely consistent. Ati's driver however looks like it needs some more work. Nothing in the image quality department but there was quite a lot of performance fluctuation in the tests. At one run we'd get an average 40 fps, in another run it was 43 fps. So bare with me on that one, i do not consider the ati results finalized. To equalize and retrieve a more consistent framerate we ran each time demo 3x and and then averaged out the results.

we selected an image quality setting that is pretty far fetched, applied to all cards in a similar fashion. Since the graphics engine can deal with a lot, we opt the best image quality available in-game, directx 10 mode and then enable 4 samples of anti-aliasing in very high image quality settings mode. A pretty tough configuration for sure.

the results is excellent image quality, yet it remains quite playable through out the scope of tested cards and resolutions. You can mimic our settings and benchmark yourself with the included benchmark tool.

Man those are some weird ass results lol..

I think what stands out the most is how much vram counts nowadays with the higher resolutions etc.

Also what stands out to me is just how much we are all dependant on decent tweaked drivers being released regularly..

The new nvidia 180.42's show considerable perf gains in far cry 2 than the current 178.24's and releases prior to that one..
I say again - "considerable perf gains".......

The 8800 ultra impresses the hell outa me - I havent experienced the 8800 range.. only the 8600 - and I never thought the 8800 ultra to be anything "super special" until recently..
It could be one of the best stepup in card perf we see for a long while - look at it go in those tests.. for a 2 yr old card thats amazing!

I'm very pleased with the GTX260's perf I'm really gunna enjoy this game!!

No joke, I'd like to see more reviews delve into that topic. Especially from the OCN community, Bitemarks put together a brief comparison that pitted 4870 512MB VS 4870 1GB:

http://www.overclock.net/ati/401321-...omparison.html

The 4870 512 had higher clocks and still took a sound beating in Crysis once AA was cranked up...

Wow, I wonder why the 9800GX2 did so bad.....

I seriously can't believe I paid $449 for this thing. I might as well have thrown that cash down the toilet.

Poor SLI support. Its one of the risks you take buying a dual GPU card. Although ATI doesn't have as much of a problem due to its more advanced tech.

9800GTX+ performance is looking good! With my OC I'd bet I'm equal with the 4870!

I'm definitely picking up this game ASAP! I just hope its easier to find than Warhead, which still isn't in stock anywhere!
