Sapphires are reference cards.

So they should have the traces.

Microstutter is much exaggerated as an issue.

If you see stuttering Jonny, go back to your GTX.

I can safely say I've never seen it on my card, so I'm happy.

Too bad you're not. Maybe I have it but I can't see it, or if I tried a GTX, I'd see it.

Although I never experienced "micro stuttering" in SLI, apparently this phenomenon occurs in SLI and Crossfire since the cards sometimes have difficulty communicating with each other.

A single GPU will obviously not have this problem but cards such as the 9800 GTXx2 or the 3780x2 will exhibit this problem even since it's just another form of SLI/Crossfire. Apparently, ATI reported that it had solved this problem with the 4870x2, but people are still reporting same issue with that card.

The only reason why I know of this, is that I was experiencing stuttering while playing Crysis: Warhead even though my frame rates where in the 40s.

While "micro stuttering" came up in this forum, I agree with Aleera159 when he posted in this thread that if you leave PC monitoring software running in the background such as CPUID, RivaTuner etc.. it will cause stutter, since these things are attempting to read system info while hindering gaming.

That struck a cord with me since I had a bunch of things running when I was tuning the fan profiles while watching my temps and playing Crysis:Warhead.

Obviously, this will not work for everyone, since some here may be experiencing this phenomenon, without running programs in the background. After I read this helpful info and other helpful info in this thread, I defragged my drive, disabled some useless Win Vista Services and played Crysis: Warhead yesterday, with only RivaTuner running (for direct fan control) and I did not suffer any more stuttering.

crysis very high 1920 x 1200 with noAA
crysis warhead enthusiast 1920 x 1200 with noAA

Basically ANY game that drops below 40 fps regardless if AA IS TURNED ON OR NOT.
I play at the same resolution with no AA Very High in Vista x64 on 8.11 official, no stuttering at all. There are several parts of the game my fps drops below 40 and no stuttering. The only time I experienced the so-called "micro-stuttering" was when I updated 8.9 to 8.10. Driver Cleaner didn't help much. So I manually deleted all ATI files under the x64 folder then reinstalled 8.10, stuttering gone.

Even though this thread is 3 weeks old I just want to point out that the OP is lying. He claimed he was going to post proof of owning the 4870x2 then disappeared from OCN, he hasn't been back on for 2 weeks so far.
