Alright, well I am saving up now and I am going to be building my own computer by myself this time and well I wanted to know what everyone though on whether or not my build seemed pretty solid for what I want to buy. Also, I will be modding the case once I get it...so once everything is bought you can all hopefully watch me in the Case Mod Work Logs.

Okay so here's what I got:

Case:
Antec 900 - excellent for modding...I have done work with one already.
Check out: http://www.overclock.net/case-mod-wo...-benchies.html

Processor:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield

Motherboard:
EVGA NVIDIA 780i SLI

Memory:
Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB (2x2GB)

Power Supply:
Rosewill RX750 750W

Video Card:
GeForce 9800 GT AKIMBO 512MB

Sound Card:
Creative 70SB088000004 7.1 Channels

Hard drives:
I have a raptor from my blue lagoon so I am using that and...
WD Caviar 1TB 7200RPM

I have a monitor, mouse, keyboard...that's all set. I was just wondering what you all thought, if there are any suggestions and what not. Thanks for any help and I hope to be starting this project soon!!!

You might want to look at different RAM, last I heard the new Ballistix was singled sidded and didn't OC well and were not quite the performers like the older Ballistix with Micron D9s

And I agree with the above PSU change. Stable power on an OC is essential.

Do you think I shouldn't go with Crucial at all? What would you recommend?

I am thinking that my budget is no more than $2000. I really would love to do more, but I just you know...wanna get my feet wet first before I spend thousands like other people I know. Get the solid build first.

@ j0z3
I am thinking of going with the PC Power and Cooling. I have heard amazing things about them.

Thanks so much for the advice so far!

Looks nice. The changes I would make are:
1. Use an E8400 or E8500 instead of the Q6600
2. Use a cheaper mobo like a P45 or P35 (unless you really want SLI)
3. Use the money you save to get a nicer GPU. The GTX 260 or HD4870 would be good choices.

That's just what I would do though. It might not be the best route for everyone.

If you budget is 2k, then what are you looking for specifically?
SLi, CrossfireX? Preference?

Do you want a Quad or do you need a Quad?d
