First build...ALONE! - Page 2

lol
Everyone beat me to everything !!

Hi

change the psu, go with corsair or the one you thought of might be ok
pc power and cooling is ocz's product which is nice.

For ram go with Mushkin if you want rock solid....
G skill is alright... better for overclocking probably...

Sounds like your not building it alone.... ocn is helping hehehehe
Good luck on the actual construction !!!

EDIT:
Oh and ..... dont get a sound card unless you really have to....
I have the 780i and its onboard is freakin awesome.
It runs my 6 speaker system and subwoofer, loud and proud..... its very sufficient.

OH and unlike the blue lagoon.... dont go with stock cooling on cpu and gpu
Get some awesome cooling and do some nice overclocking to get major performance.

For cpu go with a "TRUE" "Tuniq Tower" "Noctua", or "OCZ Vendetta"

Yeah, I saw your post, looks pretty nice. Yeah the whole CD/DVD burner I like to have. I always download stuff for my little bros and burn it for them...turning them into computer geeks too! FTW!

@Tator_Tot
I like what you put! Thank you. As far as the Tuniq tower...I think I am going to go Thermalright again...eventually watercool I hope. :fingers crossed: Do I really need a 1000W...last time I had one it fried BOTH my mobo's I was so pissed. I kinda want 1TB cause I play a LOT of games that take up MAD space and well yeah. I like the ASUS, but I am a very big EVGA fan...do you think it matter which one I go for? Thanks for the advice on the burner...

Oh and about the Cosmos S...I REALLY wanna mod my case until it bleeds...so...Cosmos S is a no. LOL!

What does anyone think about a TV tuner? I don't get cable in my room (GAY) and well yeah...

For the 1TB, I really wouldn't the platters are not as fast and such.
The 1000watt is modular, and a very stable PSU, I recommend it on the basis that you could get another x2 and have Quadfire, or for simply that it will supply enough Juice to anything you could put in there.

As far as boards, the one I recommended is the best Overclocker for socket 775 right now.
Also, if you don't go with the Tuniq, then I would suggest the Xigmatek s1283.

So for speed the 640 > 1tb, but if space is that key get the 1tb, though I don't think you will fill up a 640gb drive

PSU, you could go as low as an 800watt PSU, but I wanted to give you something that would give you plenty of head room on the OC.

EVGA and Asus, if you go with a Nvidia chipset (which I don't recommend, they aren't as refined or stable as intel's) then the EVGA 780i FTW is superb.

Though the X48 based ASUS Rampage EXTREME is a monster overclocker and is a sweet board. I would recommend it over any Nvidia chipset any day. The only reason I see going Nvidia chipsets is SLi there only perk.

And I don't think a TV tuner is neccicary. The 4870x2 can out put sound through HDMI and comes with the adapter if you need.
