How silly of me, I forgot that you might be using smaller tubing. What I should have said was to get piping with an outer diameter close to the inner diameter of your tubing. Or, get piping with the same outer diameter and find some way to fasten your tubing into a connector.

Thank you, I'll try to get some 1/2 inch OD piping and slide the tubing over it?

That's probably the easiest, because you'll be able to clamp the flexible tubing onto the pipe, whereas if the tubing was being fastened into a connector, it would be more difficult to hold it tightly.

That depends a whole lot on what fabric you use, and how much of it is exposed to airflow. In general, you don't really need huge fans. Do you have any spare fans sitting around, or perhaps a desk fan?

Whatever's convenient, but something that dries easily, like cotton, or an artificial fabric that will be less susceptible to decay.

If you have to buy fans, just buy something cheap that'll push a lot of air but won't sound too bad.

skim read this but this is AFAIK and IMO the best evaporative design out there.

Crappy paint i made months ago.

basically, however many tubes with holes that wet towels draped over them. These towels should be submerged in some of the res water for best performance. My additions to this design are two 250mm fans in push/pull, with a clear tub (acrylic would be friggen epic, but presumably a bit expensive) and CCFL/LED lighting

anyway, the whole idea of bongs is to tweak the design to your wishes.

So, how far apart do I place the pipes, also, do I place the fans on the sides or top?

well that's the question

the closer they are the more restricted the airflow is, but with huge 100cfm+ fans i don't think that's a problem. Also remember there's a point of diminishing returns. I'd experiment with more and more "racks/rails" (what i call a tube-towel assembly).

As to fan positioning, i don't really know. I doubt there'd be much difference when you have fans that huge. I suppose if you were really anal you could have the two side fans as intake and another two on top for exhaust... all up to you.
