ooh guys i thought of a pretty new idea

Usually you have a large (custom made) res in a bong setup, that the bong itself sits in, correct? So, if you put in a little square of acrylic or whatever, but not have it sealed at the bottom, you could put in a ColdPak or just a bag of ice i guess, and it would chill down the water without the bag being sucked into the tubing!

Comments!

Not exactly custom made re. reservoir. DirtyDuck uses a huge plastic tub, I use a 52 quart Coleman cooler. A lot of bongs have been built using plastic 5 gallon buckets. The tower is always vented in some way at the bottom to allow the water to get back into the reservoir.

As far as using a cold pack in the reservoir goes. That is not a bad idea. However the larger the reservoir the more you would need. DirtyDuck suggested once a while back that dumping a bag of ice into the reservoir would yield very good temps. Just for laughs I tried it out with a 10 pound bag of ice. Those were pretty crazy temps.

I read the dropping a bag* of ice into it... but wouldn't the solid bag and/or ice cubes like...block the tubing or something? my idea was just to get one of those "coldpak" gel-filled bags that stay cold for ages... then once it eventually heats it up just chuck it in the freezer and get the second coldpak out!

edit: after reading that it appears a little confusing. I'll draw a pic of what i mean in paint and editx2 it here
