One core is a bit out of whack but i can't be bothered ot check if its the mount or not...never really done it for the temps anyway.

Not bad for a 120 mind you.

I would tend to agree, yet 10 mins is hardly long enough to saturate the rad..

Ok, so this link was posted in another forum which basically says aftermarket coolers are pretty garbage in 90 degree turned cases (they used the Raven)....and this is due to the aftermarket cooler guys being cheap with their heatpipes. I don't necessarily understand the science behind it, but the results are definitely making me reconsider the vid cards I was planning on getting for my case.

Has anyone gotten a card with non-reference cooling and found that it was giving you worse temps than you were expecting?

I had 2 sapphire Toxic 5850s which had non-reference cooling and they were both fine in my raven.

Yeah...I don't think the article is saying that a 5850 wouldn't be fine. I think they are pointing out that they perform considerably worse in this orientation than they otherwise would and that reference cooling is far superior. Apparently Silverstone themselves agree with this based on what he is saying.

Well its mainly that most non-ref coolers blow the air back into the case against the flow. Where as the ref coolers only blow it out in the direction the airflow was intended. Also some manufacturers use low end components on the heatpipes which yields crappy results. I dont think you have anything to worry about.

Actually no...that isn't the situation at all. All the tests were done inside the same case...when they turned the Raven on its side it performed much better. They explain the reasons and it is specifically due to the way the the heatpipes work. It has nothing to do with where the air is going.
