Proud to call myself an owner of the Fortress FT02! I'm expecting my AP181's to arrive tomorrow!

To reply on the GPU reply's above. Heard that AP181's make alot of difference for the temps of the GPU. That's the reason I bought them.

They make a big difference to the temp of everything in the case...but not so much relevant to the discussion above.

The issue is with CHEAPLY made aftermarket coolers. Any aftermarket cooler that is constructed properly with work the same regardless of the orientation.

If you have a **** quality non reference cooler, then no, you probably shouldn't get a FT02, but what are you buying a $150-200 case for if you buy ****ty coolers.

My setup right now works just fine. I'm using the gelid icy vision v2 as my non-ref cooler.

Isn't the issue heat pipe orientation? Here is a repost from the link on page 109. Four aftermarket coolers (two are Thermalright) all suffering from the 90 degree rotation.

For the record, I don't have this problem with my Zotac GTX 480 AMP!'s cooler (Zalman VF3000f), though it would if the wicks were cheap.

It has to do with the wicks. If the wicks are not properly made/installed, or are just cheap your going to have this problem. MY cooler should if those do, but it does not.

Well...I think this issue is qualifying what a ****ty cooler is then. I think most people on this board would say that the arctic cooling has put out some brilliant coolers...or that the shaman is the best vga cooler introduced. Yet, both of these suffer from this issue. I wouldn't intentionally put a ****ty cooler in my great case...but if I hadn't read this article I may have done it accidentally.
The issue isnt "crappy coolers," the issue is, "which companies are cutting corners by putting cheap and low-end heatpipes into their coolers." A cheap and low-end heatpipe doesn't automatically make a cooler crappy, just like a Dodge Viper's cheap Dodge Neon interior doesn't make it a crappy car.

In the end the FT/RV02 owner must get the right tool for the environment. Sure a Land Rover and Corvette are both good cars, but obviously one is better for an off-road environment and the other for tarmac.
