Raven 01 owners + HXX (H70 preferably) owners - How did you mount the H70 on the exhaust? With the grill or with washers that came with H70? When I tried to mount with the grill exhaust, the screw didn't have enough length to mount into the fan + radiator. I tried the washers and had just a tad bit more length, but I wasn't comfortable with it because I felt like the cooler was going to fall off. So I took the grill off and washers to give me more length, how did you do it?

Can more RV01 owners place photos of their setups here? What about water cooling?

actually the guts is pretty ugly:D i'm not much of a cable person and as long as it's functional i'm happy with it:) currently I have an ASRock H67M-ITX/HT board in there so there isn't much to see anyway:D had to afro engineer the power button cable so it will actually reach the header on the mobo:p it was hell trying to get the mugen onto the board but once it's in there, it works fairly well. I may remove the top 120mm fan and put it onto the mugen as a pull fan (since the middle 180mm case fan is already functioning much like a push fan) running a evga 275gtx card till the 7xxx(southern islands) cards come out so it's still somewhat of a work in progress.

I know I could have gone with a FT03 or a TJ08-E with the ITX board and maybe get better results, but I tend to keep a case for 10+ years so I wanted something that will accommodate anything I might want to build in the future. tongue.gif I went with an ITX this time because eventually it will become a HTPC. when 22nm chips comes out, I may upgrade to it or maybe even wait for the 15nm chips if this 2500k holds out that long:D

It's interesting to see the direction they took with RV03. IMO they need to keep the design clean and not fall victim to hype. I REALLY like how they handled the back side of the mobo which allows for much better cabling, however, I REALLY hate how they are trying to put SOOOOOO many 120mm fan slots and getting away from the clean stack cooling design that made FT02/RVxx the most efficient case design currently on the market. I'd love to see they migrate to a 2 x 200mm configuration so the 180mm fans aren't staggered like they are in RV03. also this will offer more fan choice since the industry seems to be settling around the 200mm as a standard. I would like to see them offer some sort of "clean"(not something that dumps hot air into the case as it's currently doing) liquid solution to satisfy the aquatic nuts that tend to want to convert the best designed AIR case into a liquid case:D

eventually, I'd love to see them incorporate some kind of passive cooling features that was seen in the Zalman TNN series cases and maybe create a case that is truly targeted towards the high performance silence market. it's encouraging that they are no stranger to sticker shock:D so they ARE willing to build a case that enthusiasts want rather then ruining their reputation by putting out junk that people aren't looking to buy.

I never owned the RV02, but my first Silverstone case was the RV01, loved the case, solid build but it did have its issues, small but there and ait annoying, cable management was meh.. kinda bad if you ask my, and the most annoying thing was how easy the back cover popped off (behind mobo), also the sliding door need lubing right out of the box, but i love how they incorporated watercooling into the design of the case letting have a 360 or 460 rad hang off the back of the case with included parts.

My second Silverstone case was the FT03 which all in all was a good case, cool with a non reference video card was good, decent to work with and good cable management, there is only two thing i have to complain about this case, one was sliding panels didnt have anything lock it into place, not a huge biggie but if having it under a desk and leaning it backwards to get the psu cord in both panels would pop out. secondly cable management was good unless you had 2 hdds, and 1 ssd which then made cable management horrible and hard to make everything fit, which was my fault for buying a case like this with so many hdds, and i most say there is no way in hell you are putting 3 hhds and ssd and having all your wires in.

lastly my Silverstone RV03 my favorite out of the three ive own, and i have to say they have come along way since the RV01, cable management is amazing, i love the psu placement, i love the fan mounts in the drive bays (hiding my h80) , love the hold in the back of the mobo tray for installing / uninstalling coolers, love how the side panels are held in my thumb screws. and the window is on the LEFT side again, my number one problem with the RV02, but ya this case is shorter in length then the RV02, and shorter in height then the RV01, which are +++ in my situation.

Over Silverstone has learned from all of there past mistakes and seem to be listening to there customers, and still coming up with amazing idea, and im looking forward to the next raven series case, i will only buy there cases because i love them so much biggrin.gif

A lot of people have mixed emotions about the RV03, mostly RV02 owners saying how its not a very nice case, i love my case and think there is nothing wrong with it, even the looks i like, but everyone is entitled to there opinion, and tastes, that why there are so many cases on the market .

the design of the RV03 gave in to the hype of having 18345 fans in your case.... they got away from the clean stack cooling effect philosophy and the clean air path design. they went with the idiotic demand to have their CPU running colder then ambient on air cooling alone:D the FT02/RV02 were 2 of the highest performance per decibel cases on the market. it's true there are quieter cases out there, but not quieter AND pushing the same amount of CFM through FILTERED intakes.

with the RV03, the powersupply location isnt too bad, however by opening up both side of the case with cutouts, they are bleeding precious cold air pressure right off the bat. you don't want the cold air bleeding out of the case till it's had a chance to carry some heat with it. remember, in staying true to the positive pressure design, they really shouldn't have openings so close to the AP181's so the pressure generated aren't bled away before it had chance to do it's cooling work. they could have designed the PSU side of the case better, maybe put a shroud around the PSU exhaust ports so that the cold air sucked in by the AP181's cant escape through the PSU exhaust ports. there is a VERY slight heat recirculation between the PSU exhaust and the intake fans, but the amount isn't really worth the brain cells to calculate them. however, this does go back to the original "clean design" philosophy that RV02/FT02 were famous for.

RV03 DID however bring alot to the table. it opened up the back side of the mobo tray for a MUCH cleaner cable management system, HOWEVER, in doing so, they should have gone with 2x200mm fans instead of the 2x180mm fans. reason being that had they gone with the 200mm fans, the 2 intake fans wouldn't need to be staggered like they are in the RV03 and would have had a MUCH cleaner look(never mind the additional choices in fan sources:p) this shows their short sightedness in trying to stay proprietary rather then acknowledging a growing industry standard. the design would have had a MUCH cleaner look, AND with the additional length required by the 2x200mm fans, possibly offered a MUCH cleaner liquid solution (rear mounted 360mm rad?) for the aquatic people.

personally, I applaud silverstone for serving the enthusiasts. however, they really should stay true to the philosophy of clean, efficient, elegant design that has made them one of the best enthusiast case manufacture on the market today.

basically, stop listening to people who wants their computer to sound like a Boeing 747 taking off:D
