This is going to sound like a really dumb question, but can you remove the plastic fan mounts in the FT02 / RV02 without breaking the furthest clips (that hold the bracket to the bottom)?

Those are not fan mounts, those are fan filters. In either case no, you can install a Hardware Labs SR1 560 in the bottom. A little modding required though.

I removed and replaced my filter boxes a few times in the bottom of my RV02 without breaking the clips off. Use a flat blade screwdriver to push them up from the bottom as you rotate the bottom section up. They should pop free with little effort.

Eh? Of course they're removable, just need to be gentle. What are you? an ape. biggrin.gif

I had the early AP181 model fan housing and two of three were impossible to remove without breaking the tabs. I would have severely scratched the paint if I didn't break the tabs off. They were still functional without any rattle and made it easy to completely disassemble my case in future attempts.

Just received this case a few days ago in order to try it out to replace my ft02b-w. Turns out it actually decreased my temps by 1-2C at idle and 3-5C under load. I am loving this case so far and am really glad I purchased it.

The box is only a temporary stand while I build a more aesthetically pleasing one:

450
450
450

Specs:
i5 2500k 4.5ghz@1.325v
PNY Liquid-Cooled All-in-one GTX 580 857/2106
Asus Maximus Gene-Z
8gb Corsair 1600
240gb OCZ Vertex 2
2tb Samsung
Asus Xonar Essence STX
Corsair AX750
Lite-on Bluray Drive

Now does anyone need a lightly-used ft02b-w? biggrin.gif

TJ08-E is a really good case if you aren't looking to build a fully loaded system. most people build with a SSD and a storage drive these days so the TJ08-E does limit that option alittle. but as you've found out, it can actually out perform a FT02/RV02 in some situations due to the total volume of the case and an oversupply of cooling air from the ap181. generally speaking, smaller the case's internal volume, the easier it is to bring up the positive pressure due to the limitations in elasticity/compressibility of air and air leakage of larger cases.

if you are looking for a single GPU solution, there really isn't any reason to go with anything bigger then mATX case these days. personally i went to ITX but that seriously limits your choices in cpu cooler selection:D(i went to ITX simply because i knew ahead of time that my cpu cooler does fit:p) the only thing i wish they'd put into the TJ08-E is a mounting bracket for a SSD under or on the side of the 5.25 bays so you can still build a SSD+storage drive solution w/o having to put the HDD cage in the system that blocks the airflow of the AP181.

currently i have the FT02, but i may pick up the TJ08-E for my next build and migrate my current ITX system into the TJ08-E as an HTPC.

Weird..I managed to take all of mine out. Gonna respray the inner as the stock powder-coat isn't up to my standards.

Fortunately they do have a mounting option for the ssd under the bottom 3.5" drive bay by screwing in through four holes in the bottom of the case. It's where mine is now and it makes cable management easy due to the ssd facing the back of the case.

thumb.gif That's really a good idea.

I've never modded and I prefer to get things that have what I'm looking for to begin with. Sadly, this case will have to go back, I'm just thinking of a good replacement case.
