I do have the golf ball fan ... I know that it is decent ... but can't find anywhere that states it's CFM ... also ... it just doesn't feel strong thru the mesh of the top panel ... was going to replace it with something that has greater static pressure ...

Has anyone put a Kuhler 620 where the exhaust is on the Raven 02\FT02 cases ... How much does it impede the exhausting of hot air from the case ??

EDIT: Actually go with this one. It spins at 1500rpm which is probably closer to what you're looking for, it's mechanically disconnected from the case with rubber to minimize noise and vibration, has a good bearing and it's PWM controlled. That's what I have in the top of my RV03 and it works well and I'm happy with it, it did make noise occasionally like it was rubbing against something or vibrating but I think it was just an unlucky fan and even that went away.

the golf ball fan may not push alot of air compared to some of the higher powered fans, but it's put there for a reason. what you have to realize is they can put a heavier fan in that location but if your temps doesn't change, there is no reason for the additional cost in decibels. the majority of the cooling is done by the AP181's, the golf ball fan is there to provide just enough airflow to draw the air from the AP181's to flow in that direction. in essence, the golf ball fan doesn't even need to be there if they simply put in a fan shrouds over the 3rd AP181 to direct the airflow to the CPU heatsink. they put that fan there simply as an easier way to redirect airflow regardless of the size of the PSU you have in the case.(whereas the fan shroud would be in the way of larger PSU's.

with a positive pressure case, air will come out where ever it can find an opening. an exhaust fan is not really required if you direct the airflow with shrouds. but, it's easier to do so with an exhaust fan if you have variable such as different mobo layout and PSU sizes. otherwise, the pull fan on the CPU heatsink is doing the exact same job as the exhaust fan anyway.

You're talking about the wrong case and the wrong fan, the RV03 we are talking about doesn't have a golfball fan.

That does make sense ... the reason I wanted to change the golf ball fan is cause I have a TY-140 blowing directly at it and it pushes more CFM than the gold ball can handle ... ... i just wanted to balance things out ... a few extra DB doesn't worry me ...

If I put the golf ball fan on the front of the antec 620 with the antec fan behind the rad ... would the golf ball just make things work less efficient ... ... I would love to have a white fan on the front for looks ... until I can think of a better way to mount the rad ...

my bad biggrin.gif thought we were talking about the RV02-E biggrin.gif however what i said still hold true for the most part. the RV03 is still designed with positive pressure in mind(even tho there is far too many leakage points in the case for it to retain much of that pressure)

go with what the temp tells you, switch the fans around and see if you gain or lose any temp benefits. keep in mind that a rad will put up a resistance so you generally want a stronger fan on the push side and it wont matter as much if you have a weaker fan on the pull side since the resistance of the rad would have reduced the amount of CFM that can flow through that space already. think of the rad as a 120mm to a 92mm reduction shroud because the physical surface area within that space has been reduced by the core of the rad.

Yes ... I used paint ... lol !! ...

I was going to use the Golf Ball fan for looks at the front of the rad (black border with grey center and stripes) ... and the antec fan at the back in pull mode (pink block with stripes) ...

I don't know how else 2 make a black rad look good and not get damaged in transportation while being in the front of a white case ... redface.gif
