the plastic top is definitely the weak link on the FT02. the clip feels very tight to me and sometimes i feel like i'm almost breaking the clip just to take the top off. HOWEVER, even IF the clip breaks off after 10 years of usage, (yah i definately think the plastic will last at least that long) all you have to do is mod some magnets or some velcro tape onto the top and you'll be back in business.

also, you are severely underestimating the quality of the FT02 if you are only thinking of keeping the case for 6 years:D I wouldn't be surprised if the FT02 is the last ATX case you buy smile.gif

Alright, I'm about to order an FS02 from Amazon, and what I'd really like to know is whether all of the listings have been upgraded with USB 3.0 at this point or if I have to shell out extra money for the version that's listed as "Silverstone Tek FT02S-W-USB3.0" vs the cheaper listing titled "SilverStone FT02S-W". Has anyone had any experience with these? I know on some sites the switch to better fans and USB 3.0 was a stealthily made one, so I'm not sure if Amazon actually separates the two and still sells the old design...

This could singlehandedly push me toward FT01S-W, although I'm really fond of the idea of keeping my new case to my left (with a window on the right panel). I could do the Kuhler 620 mod to cool the card, but it's extra money I don't want to spend at the moment.

your card has a vapor chamber as well as heatpipes. just a reminder that the reference cards only have a vapor chamber and does a decent job at cooling the card so your card should do fine.

P.S.: Amazon customer service wasn't helpful at all - just comparing the actual listings directly and seeing different "first seen on Amazon" dates. I guess the only sure way to get an FT02 with newer fans / usb3.0 is to actually purchase it listed with those specs? Would major resellers still be selling the original version - that's why I was surprised that Amazon still has it in stock, separate from the updated version (I guess).

Sometimes retailers don't tell you the version, however, Silverstone does sell upgrade parts for many of their cases. I recently bought a TJ07, it was the latest version, but there is an upgrade kit available to convert it to usb3.0. Those fans are also available from some retailers.

Yeah, the black versions on Amazon appear to both have been upgraded to USB 3.0 / better fans, but the silver versions are ambiguous.

Edit: "Your order has been placed." I'm about to become a silver FT02-W owner, if all goes well *crossing fingers*.

Now, where can I find these Lamptron FC9 controllers in silver color... Can only find them in black so far =/

Looks like those weren't available for sale for that long, as I can't find them anymore... model name "FC0121S"

Does anyone know what the fans are upgraded to on the newer versions of the TJ07? AP121's?

well yeah i realize that.Thank you for the advice i decided to buy an ft02 in about 2 months. After summer, It"s absolutoley fantastic. I just got one question,is it hard to put it"s sidepannel windows to the inner side of th sidepannel or some heavy modding is required?

u have just said that the clip of FT02 is its weak link ! and that u fell to break it whenever u open the top panel..........................smile.gif i'll do any modding, the modding must be done by Silverstone, because for 240€ i dont want touch anything !

This is called "quality".
