main concern is the heatpipe location and the fin array. when your card is plugged in, youll want as many of the heatpipes as possible to be situated above the heatsource (gpu die) to stop gravity from interfering with the wick's ability to transport fluid in the pipes. good coolers have powdered wicks rather than groove, so they should be less susceptible to this but its still an issue. also, ive read that its better for your heatsink fins to run from top to bottom when mounted in your case, as the cool air will be able to hit all of the fins, rather than just the bottom if they were horizontal. similar concept to the hard drive mounts in the case, you cant have them stacking like a normal case, because the cool air from the bottom would hit the bottom one only

Which brands do you suggest as the best for this then ... I am in the process of either getting a 670/680 or 7970 for my Raven 02-EW

the sapphires and msis seem the best imo, good design and quiet. i believe psyclum bought a sapphire 7970

the asus 670/80 look like theyd work as well, thatd be the one id choose if i were in the market for a card of that power

Hey guys, I'm new around here.
I'm interested in this as I am in the process of buying a new graphic card as well and I'm leaning toward the Sapphire Toxic 7970 which, if I'm not mistaken, uses the x-vapor cooler. I found some pictures:

Judging by these photos, do you think it could work well in a FT02? Thanks thumb.gif

yes, 3 of the 4 heatpipes are very close to the die. however, it seems like the last one will be largely useless
