Their new air cooler looks really cool though, have you seen that one? It's got a really sexy and unique looking thick 140mm fan on it.

Here ya go. thumb.gif
EDIT: Seen the video you linked....that 140mm fan! Wow.
No I haven't seen that either, going to watch right now! Credit goes to mironccr for showing me the video first.

Not liking the FT04 at all.. 2 fans instead of 3 :\
No more 90 degree flipped layout.
Doesnt look watercooling friendly at all ):

IMO FT04 is going the wrong direction... frown.gif

they could have just improved upon the already superb design of FT02 to accommodate/fix some of the shortcomings of the FT02 design.

personally if i was making FT04, I would have improved on the FT02 in the following manner:
1. made the chassis larger.
a. wider to allow for more wire management or liquid cooling tubings in the back of the mobo tray w/o compromising the height of the CPU cooler that can be used. this is something people have already accomplished with the existing space, but alot of work went into achieving that. alittle extra space behind the mobo will make the tasks easier. ALSO to accommodate thicker/higher quality sound dampening material so it actually makes a noticeable difference in decibel level

b. taller to make room for E-ATX and HPTX

c. longer to make room for 9 expansion slots as well as room for a regular sized ODD if the 9th expansion slot is taken up by the GPU cooler.

d. to match the larger overall size of the case, 3x200mm fans will be used instead of 3x180mm fans to allow even more airflow for the most extreme build that enthusiasts can think of

2. rotate the HDD cage so it's frontally accessible. (similar to the 800D with a door covering the hot swap bays). the use of a backplane for the hotswap bays would be included instead of having just 1 slot that is hotswap. kinda pointless to have hotswap HDD bays when you have to take the sidepanel off just to access it. defeats the purpose of a "hotswap"

3. replace the top with aluminum cover (instead of plastic) with guided magnetic attachment instead of the existing "hard to remove" plastic mounting clips.

4. side panels should be released with a latch under the top cover instead of the existing thumb screws.

5. anodized aluminum side panels instead of steel with poor paint application... yes chipped paint is still a problem with current FT02's...

6. optional "glass" side panel window instead of existing plastic window.

7. (this one is personal) optional thicker side panel with pre drilled holes for vesa mounting kit so you can mount your 30inch monitor right onto the side panel of the case biggrin.gif

THAT is how I would have built the FT04 tongue.gif

Has he finished typing yet? haha

Sorry just having a laugh, found that to actually be a good read and there has been some thought put into your plan.

Why not go and buy one and mod it to the specs above?

alot of the changes i proposed are structural. not something a mod can accomplish. for example. making the case bigger is not something that can be modded. it's the foundation of the chassis itself. rotating the HDD cage so it's frontally accessible is "moddable" however takes specialized equipment to cut through that quarter inch aluminum unibody chassis which i neither have the know how nor the equipment to accomplish without ruining the case.

a custom made anodized aluminum side panel would be abit cost prohibitive if you were only making just 2 whereas silverstone can stamp out a few thousand at a much cheaper rate.

Not sure if I agree with making the case larger. This thing is already pretty massive considering its the size of a full-tower with as little room as a mid-tower lol. More space behind the motherboard would be awesome though.. my case is a mess back there.

I wouldn't want to clutter the front up with the ability to access the HDD, I love how simple it looks from the front biggrin.gif but of course thats personal.

Definitely agree with the changes to the top and how the side opens. Its really a pain right now :\

You know what I just noticed though? The filter system has holes for 120mm fans should you decide to ditch the 180mm fans.
I guess its another way to accommodate 120mm radiators.
