I love this card. I came from sli'ed 560's (non-ti) with pretty decent overclocks. It feels much more smooth, and its almost silent compared to the 560's, they made some noise when I put them to work.

the 3570k is clocked at 4.4, the ram is at 1866 (9,9,9,24) and the card is still out of the box and the computer just feels rock solid fast. no complaints. plus the proc and mem passed a three night in a row folding spree.

All I need is an ssd tongue.gif when ever I have the money for one, I end up getting something else.

thanks for the compliments cheers.gif I definitely put time and effort into the cables, watching the post your cable management thread is inspiring.

Agreed, nice and tidy looking machine, I'm curious about your 8pin cpu connector though, was there not enough room or length to run the cable up the side of the mobo tray to connect in from the side rather than running where you have it coming out with the 24pin atx cable?

I think MOST GPU coolers work well with a rotated mobo design....if you're basing your opinion off of some kind of testing I would like the linky please. Otherwise to most it would make sense that an Asus DC2 cooler would perform as well as a MSI Twin Frzor cooler no matter what orientation they are in.

Straight from Silverstone site: http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=242

Although people with such coolers seem to have no noticeable issues. I think its mainly just Silverstone covering their ass, informing customers, and letting customers make the final decision.

Thanks. Actually I had it tucked away like that before, and you could barely see it. I figured I bought these nice extensions, why not make them visible. I may change it back, I'm always tinkering smile.gif

Haha interesting stuff there.

Indeed. I never thought about the physics of heat pipes until owning this case lol.

the physics of a heatpipe can easily be demonstrated with some very simple items.

take a plastic straw, some cotton or tissue paper, then stuff the straw with the cotton or tissue paper. dip the straw into some water and see how far the water can climb up the straw by the wicking action of the cotton/tissue paper before gravity stops it from climbing any further. that gives you a rough idea how much vertical climb the capillary action inside the heatpipe is able to siphon the liquid back up to the heat source in a vertical mounting orientation.

the direct CU2 does not perform well in a vertical mounting orientation. however that is not to say that it absolutely will not work. it will simply not work as efficiently as it would in the normal horizontal orientation or other coolers that are more suited for vertical mounting. as people in OCN tend to demand maximum performance, any kind of advantage you can get from efficient cooling is worth mentioning.

so... does directCu2 "work" in a FT02? yes, but it's definitely not operating under ideal conditions. and you wont get anywhere near the maximum benefit from that cooler in a vertical mount.

To be honest the FT-02 is cooling the card a bit better than when it was mounted in a Coolermaster ATCS840 (With 2 x 120mm Panaflo's blowing on it).

You can do all the science experiments you want....but to me, if it works, it works. If temps are good and acceptable, let 'em do as they please. No sense in trying to deter everyone and act as if they're wrong for their decision in a card.
