haha ouch, thats rough psyclum but hilarious! lachen.gif I actually almost spit my coffee out laughing.

how about this, here is my take:

-Not like a retarded cousin, more like a mis-understood badass.
-To those who like it, its awesome.
-The looks/layout are one of a kind.
-It has many features and gadgets that other cases/cars don't.
-but to many people, its like why, Why, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!?

I see where you're coming from. smile.gif

actually, i see the batmobile as more of the RV01. not quite refined, lots of sharp edges, definitely an acquired taste and is the 1st of its kind that started a revolution as to how we think about what a case can be.

IMO RV03 was the 1st step in the wrong direction that eventually lead to the FT04/RV04. they aren't even rotated mobo mount anymore frown.gif the uniqueness is gone and now you just have a giant TJ08-E. we've had plenty of discussions on about how FT02 could have been improved and how compromises in the RV03 could have been lessened. the overall RV03 design can be salvaged if they reduced the leakage areas around the case and possibly add the AP182's to compensate for the reduction of 1 intake fan. but they gave into conventional thinking and made the giant TJ08-E and put a FT/RV badge on it frown.gif

RV03 COULD have been a good case. it's the 1st in the rotated mobo design to have serious consideration to include liquid cooling as part of the design. the generous width behind the mobo tray is a welcome change from the RV02/FT02 design. however, the fact that they punched soooooooo many holes into the case simply disturbs the advantage the rotated mobo design was famous for. FT02/RV02 was an air tunnel. cold air has 1 place going in, and warm air has 1 place going out. very clean airflow path and no mixing of warm and cool air. RV03 had a major leakage area RIGHT NEXT TO the intake fan (PSU exhaust area) not that PSU puts out alot of heat in the 1st place, BUT, the fact that the PSU exhaust sits about 1 inch away from the 180mm intake fan doesn't set well with me. it's just not "clean" and not what i'd expect from silverstone after such an elegant design in the RV02/FT02. I guess they failed in my eyes simply because they set the bar WAAAAAAAY too high with the FT02/RV02 and they simply wasn't able to improve upon it. (tho i do have a few ideas that i pointed out in the past)

I see RV03 as an unfortunate result of having a near perfect product in the RV02/FT02. it's simply too hard to follow in the footstep and come up with something better.

I'd say its more like the FIAT 500. Not exactly a sexy supercar, but has its own appeals, and its designed well.

Personally dont like it either. But I have my FT02 set up the way I want it now, wouldn't be upgrading for a while.

Maybe by the time I do upgrade, they would have made a proper FT04? haha.

Hello all @ ocn, I just lo0ove these builds.

It has been tempting me for some time now to spoil myself with getting a brand new sst ft02b-w, and eventually join this club.

I have a question though. From what I understand from reading this thread, the rotated design of mobo aren't that well combatiple with some gpu models. I myself have a asus gtx 580 directcu ii, does it coop well with the rotated mobo design?

I have planned to upgrade my cpu cooler to h80i and oc a little, but so far I don't have a need to upgrade my gpu. Though I just might because I am constantly short of excuses to waste money on my rig biggrin.gif.

So, curious about it, is asus gtx580 dcii somewhere near an optimal gpu to mount in a fortress 2, in terms of cooling?

sincerely

To all Silverstone TJ04-E owners (or whoever might know the answer) - Has anyone tried to fit a top slim 240 and had enough clearance to add a rear 120 rad (thick or slim) as well? It would be really helpfull if anyone has any info on this... Thanks!

Here is a small sketch of what I am describing above

Here is another picture of a build log with a slim 240 rad on top

Okay, I read this thread a bit more than before. So it seems that the dcii heatsinks doesn't play along with the vertical mounting at all.

Many of previous posters recommend msi tf series to ft02. Okay, not impossible idea to get one, still have one question though. Is there some more known and tested suitable gpus to ft02 build? I'm thinking of palit jetstream or sapphire maybe? Any suggestions, please inform me?!

Still, looking for excuses to burn money on my rig, can't have too manu of them. Of course more futureproofing doesn't hurt smile.gif
