i dont understand, What does the case have to do with the spacing of graphics cards?

Doesnt it depend on the distance between the PCI-E slots on the Motherboard?

His motherboard will allow him to put his graphics cards in either slots 2, 4, or 6. His question is if the 180mm fans provide enough cooling so that his GPU temps will be just fine if he puts the cards in slots 2 and 4, instead of slots 2 and 6, which requires 8 expansion slots.

Thanks. Really was something I should have figured out, but I was really tired when I posted. I ended up trying a couple of random screws from what you get and there's some other's that work as well. I bet I can use some of the extra screws from my Lian Li PC60II Plus if I need more.

The reason I took off the 140mm fan and bought the PWM S series Noiseblocker was because you can only use the 140mm with standard size ram. ANYTHING taller than that won't work. Even now, there barely any gap between the highest part of the ram heatsinks and the fan. I'm sure greater ram heatsink clearance is the reason that Noctua uses a 120mm for the front instead of two 140mms for the NH-D14. Besides I could always mount the remaining 140mm at the rear.

I kind of did what you suggested, but I didn't really torque it down a lot. Just until it was "fairly tight and back off slightly. I set the "pressure dial" with just a little more tension. FWIW - my first build was an AM2 socket = super easy. Put on some paste, stick on the heat sink (only orients one way), and push down the lever. Plus even with the smaller case I have a lot more room since it's a Thermalright Ultra 90. I have a feeling that I might not get the best temps once OC'd so I'll have to remount it one more time. We'll see.

Anyway, at least it's finally getting close to completion. At first, only one of three HDD showed up when the bios loaded, but a bios reset fixed that. I'll get some of those cable "loops" (what are those things called?) Friday since the replacement sound card & card reader arrive then. I might as well redo most/all of the cable management when I install them. I'll post some pics of the "final" version later.

I think you're talking about the Sliverstone AP181

I recommend that you either wait until you get the case or even ask Silverstone if the Raven 2 is shipping with those fans. My case (FT02 black w/ window) did come with them. I'm not sure if all FT02/Raven02s are shipping with them yet so probably safe to go with the most popular color/configuration. That's why I bought black with a window. I was actually thinking about silver without a window (the window faces the side of my desk so it's useless), but I'd rather have the extra $80+ since it wasn't a big deal to me overall.

You could always mount both 140mm fans in "pull-pull." I saw zero performance difference between push-push and pull-pull with both Scythe GT 1850s and San Ace H1011s on my Cogage Arrow.

Cable clamps or cable clips. Your local hardware store should have them.

Yeah, well it's actually slot 3&4,5&6 or 7&8.

My concern was mostly if it was worth getting a raven, even though I think the FT is nicer/better and may come with the AP181 fans, so that i could run my cards in 3&4 and 7&8 to prevent high temps, or if it wasn't a big deal in these cases cause of the 90 degree rotation, in which case I'd just stick em in 3&4 and 5&6, and have a nicer case with better airflow if it had the AP181s

Note that the RV02 has been shipping with AP181 fans since early September.

Huh...I was sure that it push-push would outperform a pull-pull configuration. Oh well, too late to RMA the Noiseblocker & I'd lose 50% b/t restocking fee and shipping anyway. The Noiseblocker has almost the same CFM output as the 140mm (albeit it's a bit noisier) so there shouldn't be any performance lose.

I did find cable clamps locally as you suggested for $2-$3.

Thank you very much - you've been a ton of help on this build. If you don't mind there's one small item I'm trying to figure out.

(1) Any thoughts on whether I should put the sound card in the PCI-E x 1 slot b/t the graphics card and heat sink or in the last PCI-E slot? There doesn't seem to be much difference in general, but at the rate this build is going...

- PCI-E x 1 makes it much easier if I go SLI (nothing definitive planed). My the biggest concern for me is heat build up. It would cover the remaining open part of the largest chip-set heatsink plus it's sandwiched between the graphics card and heat sink. I'm also not sure about any possible EMI issues given the proximity to the graphics card. I'm supposed to get a front panel audio extension from Silverstone to make sure it will reach.

- The last PCI-E slot wouldn't be good for SLI, but again - that's just a tentative plan and I have other things to spend money on. The real problem is that even if I can squeeze it into that slot, all those cables from the front bay devices would be against it possibly even putting pressure on it laterally.
