Is it worth it to upgrade to the AP181 fans? I mean I have the money for it but is it really worth it to blow $75 on fans?
Here's what you'll gain by going to AP181 fans.

I think saying "at the most" is a bit dismissive. People have reported bigger changes than 1 or 2C. There wouldn't have been so much excitement about these fans if that was all you were getting.

I dunno. Maybe I'll just go for it and see what happens.

I just got a set of three for my Raven, and they rock. GPU's went from idle temps of 57/43 to 53/39, and Load temps of 75/44 to 71/40. CPU core temps went from idle 41/39/41/38 to 39/36/37/35, load temps went from 61/60/59/57 to 56/55/54/55. All in all I'm very happy, and these were open box on Newegg so the price was about 11 bucks off. Best part they were all still sealed in box

Thanks! It too me forever to find the best way to wire all that stuff. I got the idea from Farkle0079 (thanks again for all the help), and [DcW]Tmp's awesome Raven mod pics were a great example of how to do it.

I bought my clamps at Home Depot for $1.20 per pack since the local Fry's had nothing in stock. I mostly used 1/4" clamps and a couple 3/8" clamps. The standard HDD screws (i.e. not the one that come with the FT02) fit the motherboard so I used those. You could also use the screws for the drive bays as well. Just make sure whatever screws you use are not very long. I made sure that the screws did not come contact with the mother board - it's very close with the ones I used.

BTW - if you do go to Fry's, I'd get a pack of those adhesive cable tie mounts. I only used one, but it helped and they are cheap at Fry's.

That review is right about the noise level. I have those fans and they are VERY quiet on low, but when you set them on high they get a lot louder. I really wish there as a "medium" (7.5v I guess) setting on the switches since that would be perfect for the vase majority of situations.

Trying one out under the GPU seems like a good idea. I haven't had the chance to do a stress test yet, but my GPU idle temps are LOW - 31-32C (MSI GTX 460 OC'd to 800Mhz/1900Mhz).

I've got my three on a fan controller but i find since they are so quiet on low that anything over low is slightly annoying even though it's just the slight woosh of air sound, i have them on low always then turn them up slightly when gaming.

Just Had 3 of the 120mm white led versions in my basket now for push/pull on my venomousX and for exhaust even though they are meant as intakes.. ended up cancelling.

Might just order them anyway so it's all penetrators.

Cable clamps can be found at your local hardware store, probably for cheaper than PerfPC too.

I've found that <1000rpm is optimal for the AP181. Below 1000rpm the fans are still silent. I put mine on a fan controller.

I looked a few places but couldn't find to much, and at .25 a pop, I got 20 under 10 bucks, so not a big deal, and didn't have to make a trip.

Probably gonna send my FT02 back since my drive cages are a little loose and hope I get a AP181 case back from RMA.
