why not?? i think its a good board for the price. I was able to get my q6600 to 3.8ghz (overheating problems with my cheap cooler of course) and my RAM runs at 1066mhz at 4-4-5-12. I dont know what more do you need from a middle class motherboard.

Another gtx 260 and you'll be set. Also you may want to get a better cooler and overclock your q6600 to 3.6 cause your mobo is good at ocing.

The only upgrade you need to do is to free up the few gigs of space XP is taking up. No need to have that legacy software on there is there?

Don't let the audio quality elitists tell you you need a sound card. My ancient AC97 onboard is more than sufficient. Heck it can play higher quality than any one sound file I have. Yours is a newer, better variant of mine, and is even more sufficient.

I might see an HDD upgrade tho. 320 gigs just isn't enough. 500 gigs minimum these days...:\\ My 200 gigs of total space is quite literally 8 gigs from full, and that's a buffer so I don't completely kill my harddrives.

Well, I doubt you will once you configure it, but it mgiht be best to remove the temptation to revert back at the slighest hiccup. As with any new OS install, there's going to be a few till things get settled and configured.

I know that temptation, I was about to remove it right after I installed because of couple of compatibility issues, im glad I didn't. I love it so far! I just want to make sure EVERYTHING works

Just make sure you turn UAC off and keep it off...and turn automatic updates off, you don't need them. Both of those drive me completely bonkers if they're on...and Microsoft likes to fix things that aren't broken with those updates, so just completely turn that off. If you want to risk Microsoft fubaring your entire computer because of an update you don't really need, by all means leave the updates on...:\\

One other key pointer: Memorize taking posession of files and folders. You will need to know this if you want to browse some folders, because apparently Microsoft thinks you aren't capable of safely opening C:\\Users without screwing something up...

The advantage of have a sound card is offloading all the sound responsibilities from the CPU. I also like the surround sound effect I get in my headset. To each their own.
