The lachesis failed in design, i would call it a unfair fight putting it up against one of the most proven mice in the world (G9) but IMO the Wheel Mouse Optical from microsoft owns it so badly 0_0 pics!

and yes that was slight sarcasm but that is my mouse right now. has been for over half a decade people thats over 5 YEARS and it still works like new. barely any wear besides the microsoft logo and the LED. but lol i warped the teflon feet.

I own the MX518, the Copperhead, and now the Microsoft SideWinder. Sidewinder wins. MX518 a close 2nd, and the Razer 3rd.

The lachesis loses some design points for supporting left handed use, but the G9 loses major points in that department. Even if it performs better I still wouldn't want one sitting on my desk.

I've tried both and find both of them uncomfortable compared to my DeathAdder, which still pails in comparison to the all mighty Lenovo track point (using it right now)

With all the bad experiences I've had with Micro$haft hardware I wouldn't buy another mouse (or other peripheral) from them.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm. All good mice guys... but I love mine ^^;

I have a Saitek GM-3200 and it is the best mouse I ever owned. My friend has a Lachesis and its a pretty good mouse.. but the feel of the Saitek is so nice. It has 2 extra buttons on the side for your thumb, and right above the scroll wheel is the DPI settings which are 800 1600 2400 3200. I generally use 800-1600 while using windows, and 2400 when playing a game. I play D2 as well and 800 works perfectly, plus it has two different "mode" buttons for custom action on the fly. I have long \\ large hands and it feels great.

But if I had to choose between the two, Id take the G9

Edit: Here is a review: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/S...00_Laser_Mouse
It also has the G9 and the Lechesis if you navigate the pull down on the bottom left. The saitek got a 8.9, while the G9 and the Lechesis got 9.2s. Hope this helps

I had the saitek for a week and gave it to a friend. Its built really badly.
Also tracking at slow speeds is jerky as hell.

I have a G5 and I love it, it is what I would recommend to everyone.

I sometimes used to switch my DPI to a lower one when I was sniping in CS, but I got to a point where I don't even bother any more. It's really just a gimmick to me now, but I suppose some people may like it.

But I LOVE the feel of the G5/G7. I don't care for Razer mice as much, but they're fine. I would recommend you just get a G5, but that's just me.

Totally agree, the sensitivity switching is really good for the Battlefield games when your sniping from long distance. The G5 is also pretty much indestructible, mine has been sat on, throw, swung by its cord and nearly smashed under a chair. It just won't die.

I absolutly love my microsoft sidewinder gaming mouse. I wouldn't have any other one but I have never had another one. I can set the dpi to 2000 and with touch of a button drop it to 1000 to 300 so I can really get that crosshair on my gaming subject.

Haha, good to know it's indestructible. I didn't know how tough it was, so I've been really gentle with it for the last 2 years I've had it (bought it October 30th, 2006 according to Newegg Order History )
Mine still looks brand new, nothing is worn down at all other than a slight amount of fraying on the braided cord because of my sharp-cornered desk that the cord hung over for the two years I've been using it. The constant rubbing on that edge for two years caused some slight fraying, but nothing to worry about, and it's actually been pretty resilient considering how long it's been rubbing there. Other than that, looks and works like brand new!
I also like the software that Logitech has for it. It's nice.
