Some part of Microsoft's web site is always broken. I'm not at all surprised.

OK this is the deal.. I have a HP computer right now with Vista Home premium 32bit. If I order the replacement CD for 64x version can I install it onto my new rig? I can probably spiff up a way for them to send it to me even though I have a royalty OEM or w/e... But I just need to know if i'll be able to install vista on my new rig with the replacement media...

I just used it with my dell comp i bought from walmart. seemed to work. charged me 30$ bones, didnt charge shipping which is odd being that i live in alaska. although it didnt tell me if i got the 32bit or 64bit media disc, or if they are both on the same. we will see i guess. oh and i have vista home basic 32bit.

question, what is the best way to back up media files? i would like to save my 11,000 songs before i upgrade my OS and lose them all. i have two HDD, would i be able to unplugg the aftermarket one (with all my media files on it) and install the upgrade then plug it back it? i went from xp to vista with this hdd and didnot have to reformat the drive.

There were still many OEM and Windows product activation, end-user recovery media rights, and related questions posted after my response in this thread.

If anyone is still wondering about "how do I get recovery media for my license of Microsoft Windows (x)" or "what am I licensed for, now that I've purchased Microsoft Windows (x) with my new OEM PC," send me a message.

Don't know if this has already been asked but ...

I have a 32 and 64 bit key, pro. What if I were to use the 32 to get another 64 and the 64 to get another 32.

You could do that. Keep in mind that this program only gets you MEDIA. Microsoft uses the SAME key for 32- and 64-bit versions of the same OS. So if you upgrade from 32 to 64 bit, you reinstall with the same product key you already have.

You can use 32 or 64 bit with a key.
