Thunderbird & Firefox, incompatible?

Thread Starter
I have an annoying issue with Firefox and Thunderbird.
I can't subscribe to any RSS feeds by clicking on the RSS icon.
When Thunderbird is the default RSS app in Firefox, I click on the icon nothing happens. If Outlook is the default app, the feed opens fine in outlook.

It's frusterating because RSS is supposed to be simple, and Firefox and Thunderbird should be able to communicate.
I just installed TB yesterday on both my laptop and destkop. RSS is not working on either.

Any ideas?

Ha, you're right, it doesn't work for me either (on Linux!). Which is fine, I just copy the RSS URL and paste it in anyway. Try that.

There's no way i'm manually copying and pasting RSS urls in this day and age.
Not because I'm lazy, but because I want to figure out why such a simple task fails.

After some experimentation it looks like it fails because thunderbird doesn't accept an RSS URL on the command line. You could always request the feature.

You were right, it is a bug. I found a workaround here.

You have to alter some code in Mozilla Firefox\\components\\feedconverter.js
Then add two strings into the about:config.

Now I can click on any feed, and Thunderbird adds it.
