How to: Check the speed of your new graphics drivers?

Thread Starter
Ever wanted to check the speed of your new graphics drivers without running a serious program like 3dMark or AQ3?

The secret lies in the DxDiag command from your run box...

Simply run the diagnostic tool... (it will give you valuable info on DirectDraw, Direct3d, and what drivers you're using.

Here's what you do...
Goto the display button at the top and then click on test Direct3d...
* the speed the Direct X cube spins is the key to how fast your drivers are!!!!

Conclusion...

1)If you can still read the sides...then it's mostly a Image Quality driver...
2)And if it spins like crazy...then you know you have the Hi-performance driver that will yield those extra FPS...try it out

PROBN4LYFE

note:
The fastest drivers I've seen using this primative benchmark are the Xg drivers and the Omega drivers....If someone could give feedback on the ATi Catalyst drivers let me know

They just spin at the same speed I have them spin on all computers. My x800xtpe spins at the same speed as integrated graphics. I can read the text clearly and it seems not too fast or too slow.
