JAPANESE MEMORY chip maker Elpida said it has developed 512 Mbit DDR3 memory chips, aimed at next gen machines, probably similar to the ones Paul Otellini from Intel confirmed today.
Yeah, we know quite a few of us haven’t moved to DDR2 yet, but this is the memory business which may be cyclical but which is as predictable as the taste of carrot cake.
Elpida said the chips wil deliver data transfer of up to 1333 Mbits per second, which it claims doubles the speed of the DDR2 marchitecture.
The chips use dual gate transistor technology, which Elpida said suppresses leakage of current in the DRAM devices that presumably dog current technology.
