Thread Starter
Ok so I am planning to build this computer for my sister for christmas. She wont be using it for much more than internet, aim, downloading music, and play the sims. I am trying to build this for as cheap as possible yet as good as possible for her needs.

case (have already) - raidmax scorpio

motherboard - foxconn

ram - 4gb pqi turbo

cpu - e5200

hard drive - wd caviar 500gb

dvd burner - samsung

This is what I have in mind. Please give me your opinions on it. keyboard/mouse/monitor are already taken care of.

Looks fine but, I would never use the PSU that comes in that case.

Get a good solid PSU that will last for this build.

That should be fine, as long as you don't intend on overclocking. If you want to overclock I would consider a better psu as well. If not then thats a great budget build.

The Sims does require some graphics power so I would go for a Gigabyte P35 motherboard (see if you can ebay it second hand) and then some sort of dedicated card. I'm not sure of your exact budget but that is my advice.

Id recommend going 2 GB ram and getting a dedicated card (9600GT is ample and cheap)
Even skimp down on the HDD or go the AMD route....AMD Route provides cheap and powerful on a budget! i am not complaining bout my sig rig...for a budget..its amazing!
