yeah the rev2 also the ocz logo is not shiny silver actually imbedded into the heatsink, it is now just printed on in some kind of white ink. Also the new ones look cheaper because they dont have copper exposed, while they still ahve copper heatpiipes, just nickel plated to stop corrosion, but the actual heatspreader is smooth and looks like crap, but i want the rev3 at least! Just not the rev2!! I'd pay to get the rev1

Solution: don't buy RAM with stupid heatspreaders.
Seriously.

That means no Reapers, no G.Skill Pi, etc.

I understand that logistical and even packaging mistakes happen. But when you order the Rev1 and got the Rev2, do they both have the same part number?

OCZ usually have different part numbers for differernt revisions. Have you tried contact Newegg and request a rev1 part?

Good luck when you're OC'ing your RAM, then ZOMG they got too hot and the chips fried.

Advising against people buying it just because of that...? C'mon....that is not a problem with the product nor service...And if you wanted to be sure that's what you receive as shown in pictures, call the eTailer and ask them about it. It's not like OCZ made a bad design that diminished your rig's performance...nor did they put something entirely different in your hands.

OCZ does have some excellent customer support. I'm sure if you explained to them your displeasure they will help you out with your delimma. You can either go to their forums, or call them up. Best of luck.

Already OCZ has come out with rev.3 why?? Well the heatspreader is over an extra inch higher then the memory stick, and the rev.2 only has a copper tube coming up frorm one side, so it is very flimsy and impossible to put in, when there is a stick and any other slot.

With the rev.1 and rev.3 you can push down on the heatspreader the insert the memory, with the "new' actually now old rev2 you have to somehow reach around and only push on the buttom portion. Also heat on the rev1 and rev3 is moved from the memory chips to the heatspreader quicker because on the rev2 the heat from the farther ends has to travel across the other memory chips first.

What gets to me is this rev2 has only been out for a couple weeks and they already came out with rev3, so they knew about the flimsyness of the rev2 but proceeded to sell it to unsuspecting buyers

This is honestly total BS so i advise everyone to not buy OCZ reaper memory until you are guaranteed rev3 modules.

Dont get me wrong i love my reaper ram though my original kit runs at 1188Mhz at 2.1v stock timings. Voltage that is allowed is 2.1v-2.3v and up to 2.35 under lifetime warranty. I cant speak for performance or overclocking on the new set since they are for christmas, and i only was checking to make sure they actually work.

it would depend on the newegg listing. not ocz. if ne did not update the product web page on their site, how is this ocz's fault?
