Try setting the MCH skew to 50ps might help. Might have to turn the MCH up as well. These boards can handle it so don't be scared.

I am assuming you mean the MCH core and reference values can be tweaked. What are some safe values to try? i.e. what should I not go past?

Thanks.

Hey guys I currently have had my Q9550 overclocked to 3.91ghz. (460 fsb) with my RAM overclocked slightly to 1104~mhz for roughly 8 months now with no issues. I painstakingly tightened my RAM timings one at a time and checked for stability. Took me every bit of a a month in between work and everything else to get this overclock finalized. My goal was 4ghz. I believe I may be able to get to that 4ghz mark if I down clock and ease up on my RAM. But would I really benefit from that 90mhz vs having my RAM clocked higher?

Probably not overall. Some things that are more ram intensive would be slightly slower while cpu intensive things would be slightly faster. But unless you used benchmarks I seriously doubt that would ever notice the difference.

The difference between the two will only be realized in synthetic benchmarks, there will be no real world difference.

This is a repost, I should have posted here originally I think, reading this thread, I feel a bit greedy as I had no problems getting 4Ghz stable(till recently) at low temps/low volts- I reckon I could get another 400-600mhz out of this if I REALLY dedicated some time to it(like when I had my Q6600 and Asus P5N32-SLI 'problems' oh the time I spent...).

Anyway problem is, my machine is crashing pretty major(blue screen job) every 30mins when the machine is under moderate(WoW + a few background apps). I have now played with the mem/cpu voltages and the machine has been good for a couple of hours but on Intel burn test, I get bad results. This machine was once the very model of a stable overclock. I humbly ask anyone here to have a quick look and give me your opinion on what could be going on.

These are my settings, running on BIOS F9. I am tempted to think it is a memory problem as the OCZ Gold 2*1Gb are a recent addition, with the 400mhz folder the slowest I can get is 942mhz(the OCZ are stock 800mhz.... I know but I have had BAD experiences with OCZ) so I twinked a few voltages. Also, I upped the CPU voltage one notch as I always was proud but cautious of my 4Ghz OC on that CPU voltage(bit low).

Sorry if I sound lame, I have been up all weekend... well, I don't get much playtime so I'll use it. Here are my BIOS settings, pictures taken with a more than shake sensitive HTC Desire(heh, I would like to OC this, 1Ghz stock... the fastest smartphone in town, even runs Debian!).
