But I ques perhaps that cpu fsb voltage is related to the fsb I use to oc the cpu. How do i proceed to find the weak spot? lowering everything but fsb and see how far it can go on 1.1v? If I raise cpu fsb v, would that perhaps make the cpu oc higher?

Any who see any other wrong settings in my bios?
What is gtlvref lane? Do i change these?

And why does the voltage fall so mutch when starting to work? On idle it shows alittle more, but quite less that 1.35 witch I have set in my bios, I think it is 1.32 idle and 1.3 on load or something like that..

Thanks

First question, what are your computer's specs and second, how come you had to push your cpu voltage all the way up to 1.35 for 3.5ghz? i have my q9550 overclocked to 3.83ghz at only 1.34375v

hi i have q9550 @ 2.83GHz on on GA-EP43-UD3L and currently i am runnin evga 660ftw but i think about changing into 770 once it comes out, if its under 500w psu requirement.

from http://www.overclock.net/forum/newestpost/1118262 i knew to
1. set pci to 100MHz
2. set fsb to 400MHz as all my DDR2 rams are 5-5-5-18 1.8V 800MHz rams. Running FSB at 333 and increased it to 400

I have brand new cooler master vortex plus cooler and i get 55C in BF3, 57C in Metro 2033 top temp on one of my cores, others are lower. before with stock cooler (seller gave me one from q8200) I had like 72C in games but it got for moments to 79C sometimes in benchmarks like sisoft sandra.

EDIT: i am doing something wrong. change system memory multiplier from 333*2.4 to 400*2 (3,4GHz from 2.83GHz) and my unigine score is down from 33,8 to 28,1 and in BF3 i get stuttering when playing tough the fps are not dipping down ... CPU shows 3,4GHz and temps are the same 57C at most. The stuttering is only in BF3, FC3 works great i even get cca 5fps more with OC, but i guess i go back as i play more BF3 and FC3 has 35-45fps so its playable

PS: my 8yo second LCD is now broken, but i guess its the condensators that expired smile.gif well it lasted long

thank you for you insights

It seems to be stable at 1.26vcore as well, so my hk is causing the problems, right? What is cpu fsb voltage? This is on 1.1v normaly, should i raise it alittle to see if it is the fsb who are hitting a wall at 1650? what about the settings like c1 etc? disable all? My ram is rated for 2000Mhz at something but I keep this "under controll" so it should not be the ram witch are causing the problem.

Please help anyone!

ok i am now running 3.4GHz stable on EP43-UD3L, stuttering in BF3 is gone, Unigine actually got 33,9 smile.gif, all i had to do was to make the settings directly in BIOS, easy tune 6 was not much help, better do it in Bios. Changed Ram Voltage directly to 1.8V so it doesnot change and PCIE to 100MHz so its ok too.

please put me into the club. here is my CPU validation

http://valid.canardpc.com/2651843

Temperatures on my cores are 62 55 59 57
I am not using prime95, my tester is BF3 and FC3, as i am just gaming and 3.4GHz should be no problem. as my rams are 800MHz i cant go any higher

best

EDIT: Hard to read but I'm currently at 3.61Ghz on 1.184 volts. No changes to any other voltages.

Am very thankful for any help .

you certainly have a board capable of overclocking your EO 9550. you should be able to get somewhere around 3.6 with little to no effort. beyond that will rely on cooling and your cpu

Everychip is different and really takes experimentation to find a stable overclock for your chip. Other then chip it comes down to motherboard (which you have a good one) cooling (which looks like you have a nice one. Is your mounted with the standard spring mounted they give you or do you have it screwed down with a brace on the back of the board. I switched to a screw down with brace on the back of the board and saw a drop of more the 5c)

I'll post my bios settings when i get home and you can give them a try for a stable 3.8 clock.

So far for my overclock my chip has been a interesting experience i had a stable 3.4 overclock for almost 4 years at 1.15 vcore and stock other voltages but to get it to 3.8 i have had to raise the NB voltage and a couple others while also raising vcore to 1.275 vcore to get it stable.

Just make sure you watch your temps most people will recommend not going over 70c at load. Intel burn test will give you the max temps you will ever see (unless you 24/7 fold you will never see temps like this outside IBT) Prime95 small fft are a good way to test stability and give you more realistic max temps.
